Apple should re-imagine the iPod Shuffle

22 October 2017
There are times when a smart phone is simply too big. Is it time for Apple to bring back an iPod focused only on music?

Too long to read it but essentially, Apple can do it if there's enough demand to make it worth their while.

Dante Evans, 23 Oct 2017Ok, i'm gonna say something, well i feel a little bit wierd... moreHow rough do u treat them? How come u have so many? Kinda makes me think they aren't built to last, either device.
I'm using a Nokia 808 as an offline navigator, camera & music player (Bluetooth, WiFi, nfc the most unique feature FM TRANSMITER). I don't need it to run or cycle (maybe a bit heavy) but between work stereo, car stereo & home & the fact that it's running a 128gb sd card makes it perfect for my needs.

They can always do what Samsung does, put an mp3 player in the earbuds. Reduce the gadget clutter.

Anonymous, 23 Oct 2017Next Gen iPods comes with NO JACK.their ipad still got jack , their mac pro still got jack , their imac still got jack , even their macbook also got jack

some android phone also start removing their jack , and theres also some android phone that already remove that jack before apple did ...

soo , ur joke about no jack getting older and lame ...

Don't need the shuffle anymore but got to admit, during its time, it was agreeably magical.

Ok, i'm gonna say something, well i feel a little bit wierd talking about Apple products 'cause i normally use Android devices -for handsets-, and Sony branded products for músic relatéd stuff, but, i have proudly owned Apple sometimes, and that's with the Ipods, I used both, Apple Ipods and Sony Walkmans even when Walkmans were not so good compared with the Ipod, the Ipod used todo had that kind of magic -If i could say it like that-, ofrece being a well done product with fantastic performance and nice fit and finish, but Walkmans olso had it's own they were sturdy well built to and stunnig when you see how rich in music/related features, and when you notice, right now the Walkmans áre selling even better than what the entire line of Ipods were selling before Apple dicided to kill some ofrece them, and If you see they were growing it's catalog every single year and they have up to 17 models offered world wide maybe not all of them reach your country but for that exist Ebay or Amazon don't you?, so my point is, how does Sony was capable original taking off the crown of the music players todo Apple??????, my friends and i used to have Ipods all of us, but by the past two years we all shift to Walkmans and we all agree in something, the biggest diference bettwen both of them is what it's owner do with them, Sony understand that If they didn't get competitive in the segment once they created and owned they will just die, and in a world where they smartphones does almost everything the most lógical way todo diferenciate is not to compete against smartphones, and how they do it?, with dedicated buttons, music/related specifics, music enhancements, more capacity, absurdly high battery lifes, ample range of codecs, and a pretty huge base of setting todo listen the music you want just the way you wanted, and If you look all the smartphones does some ofrece those thing but just noticias the way Walkmans those all togeter, and the result?, Walkmans áre selling surpricingly well year after year, and that doesn't look it's going todo stop any time soon, but what does Apple did?, they just make the Ipods redundant by offering the same -standard and not so amazing- features in they as in the other Ipods and Iphone in the same way, so in the smartphon era where you could have it all in only one divice why to have a second device that does the same that my Iphone does?, that has no sence and that's how Apple cannibalized the Ipod, I own three Walkmans -1 sport WS, 1 B series and 1 A37- and I owned four Ipods -1 2gen shuffle 1 6gen classic 1 3gen nano and 1 5gen touch, and loved all four of then-, but I must say, my currect Walkmans áre way better overall performers

MaxSmarties, 22 Oct 2017Those earbuds seems ear impaired devices with poor battery ... moreWell don't complain till you use something. They are good and yes their battery could have been better but it does the job anyways. How long are you planning to run anyways.

Still use https://www.amazon.co.uk/Creative-Stone-Player-Built-Speaker/dp/B00134747E/ref=dp_ob_title_ce when i'm out and about. Cost me £23, 24 hours battery life any day of the week, FM radio if i get bored of the music on it. They should be able to knock devices like this out for pence these days

This article will take a while to read. Right off the bat, I agree. Apple should make a music supplement device to go along with iPhone users. This device would benefit greatly with a high quality DAC and amplifier onboard. I also think having more focus on audio controls would attract the mainstream; imagine plugging in an ordinary pair of headphones, sliding a switch, and get big bass. I would also think this is where manufacturers can make smartwatches with Android a lot better with audio controls like Viper.

So, I read the entire thing. I think the solution to his problems is a cheap, rootable Android smartphone or a iPhone that is a few years old. Both can be small, and equip a wristband. Simple as that.

Bring back the 5th generation iPod Nano. It was the best designed music playing device ever, and killed off for a cheap model no one wanted or asked for.

Anonymous, 22 Oct 2017To add, no battery, no charging, no jack, nor ports neededNo WiFi, no streaming, or no paid subscriptions necessary, too... I could go on a list of LSS' benefits but anyone should get my point by now. Why bother themselves revolutionizing or re-imagining innovative concepts for an aging invention when a solution to such technology could go as primitive as psychology?
