Anonymous, 17 Jun 2011there is no logic in what you wrote, people buy a mercedes ... moreI suppose the Vertu would be a version of the Classic Austin Mini, special Paul Smith edition, nothing too fancy on the inside but the fact its got a designer twist on it makes it that little bit more special.

timeless

I dont think, comparing this to a Mercedes would be right, i think this phone is more like buying a Rolex, u know, a luxury accesory just to show that u CAN buy it, there can be many other watches that have more practical features, but those are the watches for "the people", and since u r not just "people", u must have one of those to stand out.

AnonD-11222, 17 Jun 2011the reason why people buy this phone is same as why people ... morethere is no logic in what you wrote, people buy a mercedes because it is nice and has many features that other cars dont have, a vertu is just looks, nothing else. A iphone is a mercedes, a vertu is to hard to categorize in a car class.

It's hard to imagine what the price of this phone is going to be. The Vertu Signature in stainless steel is $13,3000, and the black edition is $16,000. Throw on some gold, precious materials and more exclusivity and this will likely cost over $20,000. These are definitely for a completely different class of people. Those that can drop $20,000+ on a phone without batting an eye do not think like you do. So what if they could have spent that $20,000 on a charity instead. They likely donated $200,000 to charities or more already this year ;) These people are not like us.

This phone is ridiculous, and before all you guys jump and scream about its materials and craftsmanship, those things are nothing without functionality. Example: Bentleys and Rolls Royces are SUPERIOR MACHINES FIRST, and then covered by elegance. That is the true difference between greatness and banality. Without innovation, there really isn't any presence of art.

why the hell they make these crap phones, what is the use of them? the price, the looks, the materials all waste of money, instead ppl spending money on such crap things could donate those money to red cross or any true Charity that truly helps others.

please be aware that this is a advert, made from some marketing company.
it's curious to see that people really believe in the adverts and create fake expetations, so my thumbs up go to the the marketing guy that "built" this advert because it seems to be working.
about hand built phones, all of them are you bumb asses.
probalby no hand built from scratch, but at some point they are hand assembled by bad paid people so the phone comes cheap to us.
                                and a technical detail.
if she is assembling the phone, why isn't she wearing any E.S.D. compliance material?
grow up people, and stop wanting things you don't need.
                                brrrrrr.........
