Not much more, but enough to make it the more popular Mate 10.

Huawei people are tricky and canny if the pro had 3.5 mm Jack and expandable SD every one would have gone in for the pro. They intentionally dropped some pixils on the display and removed the head phones Jack to make way for the water proofing. They added everything to the regular Mate 10 and left out the water proofing and the 18:9 aspect ratio. They are really canny and tricky. So go for which you think you like. Any of them that will get here I will be ok with it.

Alien , 29 Oct 2017I'd rather have an older flagship from Sony or Sammy than a... moreThe old Mate 9 is well-built, as seen on Youtube (Jerry's test, yes). Not sure about Mate 10, as it doesn't have the same aluminum-body as 9 does. Also while I've had this phone for about 7 months now, it has gotten updates every single month and god damn, I've never used a phone that worked this smooth day after day! Some other variants of my phone does not get updates pushed this often, but mine seems to get them quite fast. My only "issue" with EMUI is the all-white stock theme, but turned out it can be fully themed, so easy to fix with a nice-looking dark theme. :-)

That UFS or eMMC -thing is true, though - agreed, it can be a lottery. Technical support worked like a charm for the one time I contacted them, they even replied to me in Finnish instead of English (the form was in English) in few hours after I emailed them. Customer service replied instantly as I used their chat. They provided me help I needed and the problem (user error by me) was fixed in total time of 3 minutes. I rank this level of service very good.

I was also very skeptical about Huawei and especially their build-quality and support, so far things are very good and I will definitely buy another phone by Huawei. I witnessed someone close to me own a Ascend P7 in the past and that was the reason for my doubts towards the whole brand.

This time, taking the risk was well worth it. But oh man, EMUI used to seriously suck in the past! It has definitely improved and even if my previous phone was a Nexus 6, this is so good that I don't even miss having the stock Android. That's something I never imagined to say if I bought a Huawei.

If you want a phone that'll last a while with zero issues, a Galaxy would (hopefully) be one of the last devices you look at.

Kangal, 29 Oct 2017You seem to underestimate the limits of people's stupidity.... moreI think your definition of an enthusiast is just different. I personally don't care for DualSIM, MicroSD slots, boxy designs or anything. To me, these are relics of the past. An enthusiast is someone who wants to be ahead of the curve, even if that means bridging gaps when it comes to new features and the old ways. MicroSD? Why not just Cloud storage. DualSIM? We are seeing integrated SIMs now. Headphone jack? The future is wireless.

No, what you're describing is a power user. Someone so ingrained in their ways in how they function that what they detest most is having to change their routines. Who cares for a sleeker design, that just means the battery is smaller. Taller aspect ratio? All your work and content in the here and now is 16:9. There is nothing wrong with being a power user but don't confuse that for being a phone enthusiast.

The great great thing about smartphones in 2017 is that midrange are great. Arguably better for power users. I have a Xiaomi Mi Max and I love it. But you don't see me knocking people who want to spend money on a phone in a way that makes sense for them, I mean how pathetic is that?

Again. It's about QUALITY, not quantity.
By that I mean long lasting devices. 2-3 years without ANY problems + the updates.
Also this brand is notoriously known for having 3-4 versions of the same phone. When you buy one it's like playing the lottery. Omg, am I gonna get UFS2.1 or eMMC on the P10?! Stuf like that. Don't trust me? Google it.
Better check the specs 3 times with them. Just a heads-up. I'm not even gonna say anything about warranty and technical support.
                And... They SPY on you!
But go ahead. Buy one. It's your money and time. Not mine.
I'm gonna get the red XZP.

Anonymous, 29 Oct 2017This is silly. Mate 10 standard is already for the masses ... moreYou seem to underestimate the limits of people's stupidity.
Case in point: increased prices, slippery glass phones, less fragile thin-curved designs, worse repairability, poor hardware support, lack of first-party software support, bloated software, worsening battery life, loudspeakers that continue to disappoint, dual-cameras that suck/make little to no improvement, removal of headphone jack, scarcity of microSD slots, rarity of dualSIM slots etc etc

None of these are problems that can't be addressed last year, or even the year before.
However, all manufacturers are happy to produce subpar phones at extreme prices... this way they can introduce improvements gradually.

To prove, again, that you are wrong: in 2017-2018 the iPhone X will sell very well and be a big success, much much more than other handsets that offer better "value for money".

That's how stupid society is, they deserve to get ripped-off on a device like the hypothetical Huawei Mate 10 that I posted. Me? ...well I would've purchased the hypothetical Huawei Mate 10 Pro in a heartbeat as it offers more value despite the extra cost. And again, while it is a hypothetical list, these are practical devices they could've built a month ago and sell at those prices.

Mate 10 standard is already for the masses no different to its predecessor mate 9, while Mate 10 pro is more niche group like its predecessor the Mate 9 pro. The mass market aren't fools that they can't figure out poor specs that its almost equivalent to the Mate 10 Lite.

Some of your specs are wishful thinking without considering space management within the device and sacrifice you have to make. 4000mAh takes more space than 3000mAh and your specs instead added all kind of slots and hardware to the 4000mAh version while removes them all in the 3000mAh version. Also wishing 16:9 OLED display without considering whether Samsung and LG produces good quality 16:9 ratio bezel less oled display in the first place (and that too 85% screen to body ratio with front firing stereo speakers). And IP68 vs IP67 is a difference of mere 0.5m extra depth of water which is marketing and no practical difference.

This really is a confusing choice, and actually no clear winner. I would've preferred they had a different approach where the Mate 10 is for the masses (like an iPhone) and the Mate 10 Pro is for the enthusiasts (like the old Samsung Notes/Nexus). So something like:

Mate 10 Pro (offers best tech of today/future, function over form):
                              €800 ...a high enthusiast price
Flat design (eg LG G6), fast charger in box, 4,000mAh battery
                              128GB, 8GB RAM, unlocked bootloader
microSD, dual SIM, 3.5mm aux, IP68
Rear fingerprint, front STEREO (dual loud)speakers
                              16:9 screen, 1440 x 2560, OLED
5.7inch display, 85% Screen to Body
Limited supply, Comes in new colours Mocha/Titanium/Midnight Blue

And a Mate 10 (offers current me-too and future regressive trends, form over function):
                              €600 ...a current high-end price
Curved design (eg SGS7), standard charger in box, 3,000mAh battery
                              64GB, 4GB RAM, locked bootloader
no microSD, sealed eSIM, no aux port, IP67
Rear fingerprint, front MONO speaker and earpiece
                              18:9 screen, 1080 x 2160, IPS-LCD
6.0 inch, 80% Screen to Body
Mass Scale supply, Comes in only Black/White/Pink Apple colours ; )

Market the hell of the Mate 10, leave the limited and pricey Mate 10 Pro for us enthusiasts that want the extra power and custom rom options.

Anonymous, 29 Oct 2017Mate 10 Pro is going to have a better battery for sure but... moreI wish they could have just merged the two. QHD amoled with either 16:9 or 18:9 aspect ratio, ip68, 6gb ram, etc.
