Is having a second speaker worth the extra bezels - Paul and Ivan lay

Come one guys, no one listens music through loudspeakers, it is not practical. No bezels, massive screen is what you need, you want sound? Just use headphones that's it, stereo, no stereo speakers, does not matter in tiny phone you can't put good ones anyway

Not needlessly stereo configuration, but a it needs to be a good and a loud one.

I don't mind some bazels up and down, for a grip, and since we already have it, why not to have extra speaker???
I also agree that sound quality from mobile device will never be as good as from dedicated speakers so i understand a point of view that "we don't need it", but don't you guys just hate it when you cover your only speaker with a finger when holding your mobile????
I know I do, there is a moments when my s8 is so close to being thrown of to wall. That much I hate it.

I dont know why people really like listening to things with their phone speaker instead of earphone or headphone. The quality is just incomparable. To enjoy music in alone-time it is better with an earphone. Even binge watching movies on phone is better when you isolate yourself with a headphone. Zero disturbance from external noise. If the phone doesnt have an earjack, now that a whole different story.

I use the ZTE Axon 7 and love the stereo speakers, I don't care about 18:9 screen ratio. I watch many videos with my smartphone and appreciate both speakers, I also own some bluetooth speakers but those are unnecessary for me now. I love the fact that Google Pixel 2 has good stereo speakers and hope that they will not die out in the future. I'm worried that in the future phones won't have speakers for multimedia because now it's like "who needs stereo speakers" and later it can change to "who needs speakers in a phone".

I literally almost never use speakers on the phone, and I can't imagine circumstances under which I would need two tiny speakers instead of one and sacrifice something to get that.

ME, 30 Oct 2017Talking about sound quality and listening to beats headphon... moreI agree, beats is no way near sony, pioneer, sennheiser and shure. If you're an audiophile why not use those headphones or earphones. I appreciate phones with stereo speakers sometimes i need it when I don't have headset with me but I'll trade it for more screen than humongous bezels.

Whether a phone has big or small bezels is largely irrelevant to me. However, so are stereo or mono speakers, as I always use headphones anyway for anything but voice calls. No matter if it's one or two speakers, music or movies sound a lot better via proper headphones compared to any built-in speakers.

I have a Nokia 808 running the last version of delight and I have found that the mono rear facing speaker gives amazing sound from a phone ONLY if placed on wood /cardboard can be a compromise). The sound is nowhere near headphones /earphone/separate speaker quality but for listening to it in the shower it's perfect. Same for work conditions (motor workshop). I think front facing are not necessarily and the Nokia's I found this to work with (808,n8) only benefit from their camera humps. Also it really requires a wooden surface to prevent tinny sounds. The only thing the speakers lack are bass.
If you have a tweaked 808, play around with the equaliser (it makes a big difference) along with rom patcher+ (baked into the final delight build) and place the phone screen up on a wooden stool ;-)

Talking about sound quality and listening to beats headphone do not go together,
makes your article not serious and I doubt your opinion.

both is what should be the standard... we have seen bezelless phones like xiaomi mi mix 2 and essential phone .. fitting almost invisible speakers in the almost non existing space between screen and frame, if it could be fit there .. naturally it can fit at the opposite edge.. what is the tech-whoah is about then?

AnonD-523445, 30 Oct 2017we can use bluetooth speaker for better audio qualityI agree, which is what people should do to begin with. Why sacrifice screen real estate, and a beautiful screen:body ratio, for larger bezels, especially considering that the improvement to sound will be minimal? It doesn't make sense.

Doesn't matter anyway. The market isn't going in the direction of stereo speakers. Thankfully. You'll find a few manufacturers implementing dual speaker setups here and there, but not nearly enough to shift the smartphone's evolution in design moving forward.

GSMArena's polls have never been a factor. Lol.

I want 4,7 - 5 inch screen with minimal bezels.

No matter if a smartphone has front facing, stereo speakers, or a single speaker on the front or bottom, the sound is still underwhelmingly trashy. Sure, dual speakers offer a louder, trashy sound, but nothing at all to get excited about. No one will ever mistake the sound coming from your smartphone for what can be produced by a cheap, decent, bluetooth speaker. Not now, not ever.

Seriously. You couldn't possibly expect full range, audiophile worthy, sound from a smartphone, could you?

There is no need for stereo speakers, but there is need for bezels! Bezels are useful.

Where is the correct answer, "bigger bezels are better, period"? No bezels means nothing to hold phone by - you will be either covering the screen with your fingers or holding the phone with the very fingertips and consequently dropping it a lot. Bezelless phone is a triumph of design over ergonomics.

Using the ear piece as a front facing speaker in combination with downward firing speaker can eliminate some bezels, but earpiece speakers are usually too muted except when you have your ear pressed against it when making calls sounds better. Not having front facing stereo speakers isn't a deal breaker for me, but I still prefer having them though.

                                        Stereo speakers & bezel??

What is this article all about?

It should be front facing stereo speakers vs bezels..

Stereo speakers can put in sides or even backside.
