HMD are largely made up of Nokia veterans. They're based on the Nokia campus in Espoo, Finland, right opposite the Nokia Corporation headquarters. Nokia Technologies does all the research and development. Nokia are a member of the board of directors. Nokia set the mandatory requirements for all devices.
HMD are the Nokia Devices division of old in all but the name. I wouldn't be surprised if Nokia went from royalty partner to large investor or even outright buying HMD if it becomes profitable. They're just being cautious until then given their collapse as a mobile manufacturer in 2014.

Google Samsungs Vr headset for hmd and microsofts part in it. microsoft/hmd, and the phone world ,belong together like sh*t on shoe. This just, micro behbeys pushin android, hiding under nokia rug. Sneaky at best, uneccessary cannon fodder at worst, this aint nokia. Why try out new incompetence (hmd), when there is established phone companies with expert experience already, with phones at every price and every level of spec, its already there and better.
.Good luck to htc, but again like, the jumped up start up hmd, micros pretending to be nokia, apart from a few die hard fans they are not needed or required, though I loved the first big screened htc hd.

But i wished this upcoming U11 Plus was a 5.99" QHD 16:9AR screen phone with that rumored almost 4000mAh battery. Well we shall see on the 2nd...

Anonymous, 28 Oct 2017Don't compare XZ1c to Nokia 9 - the latter is not compact at all.These days 140mm is mini, so I call that a compact. When just about everything is much larger. The Nokia 9 has huge screen on a mini too. Win win. For me that's more attractive than the Sony on which is still nice.

There will be no headphone jack coming anymore, either from HTC, either from Google. Just opt out for a V30, it's an amazing phone.

Releasing a new phone in November is a good move bcs you can put the latest Android version on it, Samsung should release the note line in November too.

Diantro, 27 Oct 2017Haven't been eager for an upcoming HTC phone for years! Gre... moreWeek ago I moved from HTC Sensation (had it for 6 years) to Xperia XZ1c.
And I love the hardware - fast, well built, great camera (pity, that no OIS though), separate button for taking pics... Yet there's one thing that I regret loosing - Sense UI. Seriously, checked Samsung, Sony, LG. All those are way behind HTC in terms of UI - ease of use, clarity, well arranged settings and other stuff.
If only HTC went for an equivalent of XZ1 Compact (small powerhouse phone), I would buy it for sure.

This phone is supposedly coming with wireless charging - which is great. But the only way they could have included that is to put a non-inductive material on the back, such as glass or plastic. I'd personally love a well-built polycarbonate phone, but the masses apparently still like easily breakable phones. So glass or ceramic it is.
