Was E7 (I get too excited introducing the E8 that even don't exist :P), and even N9 is an extremme cool designed phone from Nokia, I love the way Nokia is taking for the near future.....but Meego is not for me :(

I will still wait for WP7, for now I will still use Android waiting for Nokias come back...and if Nokia one day goes Android way they will be powerful enough to be real 100% competitive company (Meego/Symbian/WP7 and Android) man..what a beautifull dream :D

Show these guys that MeeGo is NOT the way for Nokia. WP is the right choice.

Face it, Symbian is dead and there's just way too many things that needs to get fixed before it can compete against iOS and Android. MeeGo, while promising, don't have the install base needed for it to be competitive. Just take a look at WebOS; it was better than both Android and iOS yet it failed because there was not enough install base for the OS.

Oh, just one minor nitpick on your post Red Hat, there's no E8. I'm pretty sure you meant E7 though.

If you see where OS X is heading then you'll know that OS X and iOS are headed for unification/merge. The same thing is going on with Windows and WP. WP and iOS are not going away anytime soon.

MeeGo will not have the mass installation base that is critical. Nokia have this foresight and that's one of the reasons why they bet the whole farm on WP and not in MeeGo. Ecosystem wise, MeeGo got nothing and it have zero market share. Realistically, it just doesn't stand a chance.

Btw, I don't think this touchscreen craze will end soon. I don't see the industry going back to hard keys. The only logical paradigm to happen is the introduction of flexible screens in the near future and tighter voice recognition.

[deleted post]Hey! Don't get me wrong.

I still using my 5230 for messaging and other stuff (even when my others phones batteries die. Nokias still living and kicking hard).

But face it. Symbian need improves, for basic use is great, but for handling more complex is a little old-fashion.

I love N8 and E8 desings, in fact I'm not closed minded to get one some other day.

But, Symbian needs to be improved, needs to have more support, and need a more fresh look than Anna's.

Let's see in the near future, too bad Nokia is going to stop support in 2015/2016 for Symbian, and that's will be a black day for Symbian users....like me.

AnonD-1131, 21 Jun 2011I sort of agree with you but it seems like WP is just getti... moreNokia and Microsoft have stacks of money between them and hefty amount of engineers.I dont believe Android will last because of fragmentation and it will have its lifespan..In 2006 nobody new IOS ,Android,w7 and maemo or meego would even be born. All these platforms have finite lifespan...

IOS will age along with Android and w7 and meego will be the freshest new O/S on the block..

I cannot wait till this full touchscreen fad ENDS and nice new gadgets start emerging with something to look at whatever the O/S.

I don't think iOS is better than symbian, but more like of user friendlier and faster all around.

              I Hope You GUYS Agree
Im an android fan, but i support this, and will buy it if it's priced correct

Nokia, please consider the fact that your way too late to the market with a new OS, so if you want to make it, if you want to give Meego a chance, price it to compete!
Dont sky rocket price this product.

One more thing, please change the icons to more glassy light reflect, make it more quality icons, ISO Usability:
              Effectivness

AnonD-252, 21 Jun 2011I hear many want to buy a MeeGo-Nokia, but very few say the... moreMaybe those "many" never used before an WP7 device.

But beilveme is a real pleasure use WP7 devices, If I had to choose between OS's...man really is a hard choice, since Android, iOS and WP7 have very strong points.

Pleople like critize OS even if they never used one.

I used 3 of them and I can tell you WP7 is years ahed of Symbian and other basic OS, even with the restrictions (now to be removed with Mango)

If this wasnt true..>Why Nokia bet all on WP7 devices instead giving more support to Meego, since when is trying Nokia to release Meego??

Meego is seeing the day light, and WP7 has more experince in Phone Market.

However I wish the best for Meego, but, I don't look at as a full competitive OS or a direct rival for Android iOS or WP7, is just a nice free opensourse project.

Maybe in 5 years more Meego will have some good support as Symbyan...But for that years, iOS, Android and WP7 going to still there..selling OS and devices, and I don't knw how much Meego devices will be out for that time.

Nokia is more proud on their parntership with Microsoft than Meego Launch....Now this is a diffucult time for Nokia to start "betting" on an almost "unknow" OS. Their need the support of a strong OS....Not start experimenting with Meego.

A year from now, if sales of WP is still low then Nokia will start to panic and might start making Android phones. If Nokia can somehow reverse the slow adaption of WP then the future will be okay for Nokia. They may never get back their old dominance but at least they will be okay.

Being not so happy N8 user i have sworn that i will nevery buy Nokia phone again and have already been doing some serious research on my next Android device. But now this...damn this could be the game changer...yet again. By the looks of it looks like an amazing design phone. Designwise i would put it on the very top of the smarthpone industry...thats right even above iPhone. One thing i love about Nokia is that however down they are they still have the ability to surprise and N9 is a serious (positive) surprise, didnt think they were up to the task. Maybe, just maybe this will be my next phone...one more time, looks sexy as hell :)

That 1 Gig of RAM is a good sign that Nokia will get their WP devices right the first time. It's a good sign that they know what they are doing. Android lags because of insuficient RAM. Nokia better hurry up and release the WP devices soon.

As long as most buyers do not want to spend money on WP7 not even the giant/dinosaur Microsoft can save WP7 from failiure.

the UI so beautifully simple. what else we need? 100k apps? i don't think so. 80% buyers want nice looking, simple, reliable in therms of software and hardware and well priced device!

Microsoft is making a great come back, even Meego wail too much time to appear and WP7 are already athe corner.

Ther only 1 Meego phone, there will be 3 to 5 WP7 devices from Nokia (and this is just the start), along with HTC, Acer, LG, Samsung and Many more, Meego only works officialy on Nokia.

Even now tell me how many Apps are already maded for Meego devices?

You can count thousands for WP7 and there's more to come.

I still insist Meego is NOT THE FUTURE for Nokia, is just a step.

I need a FM-radio and Adobe Flash is essential, must have, for browsing on the Internet, and micro-sd-card is also a must have.
I think MeeGo will be the number 1 os for Nokia when WP7 fail because not even the most diehard, blind, Nokia-fan/employee/kid will buy WP7 when they can buy MeeGo, and even Symbian will be better than WP7 now when the user-interface and browser is beeing improved and they get 1GHz or faster processor and atleast 512 mb ram.
