Meego IS NOT the future for Nokia, is just a step.

I sincerely don't see future on meego at all. However, Nokia is making a more powerful phones.

And that's for me something that deserve attention and admiration, since they are starting to break ktheir low specs to get a more higher tech. on their phones. :D

                You love conspiracy stories?

Whether you're a Nokia fan, a hater, or somewhere in between, it's a good read.

Love the phone, or at least, what I’ve seen of it so far.

Some people are dismissing for this or that reason. (i.e. no dual core CPU, last generation CPU/GPU, no HDMI, no FM transmitter, no Xenon flash, no hardware keyboard, etc., etc.) However, it’s not a device for tech-heads; it’s consumer oriented. And, as that, I think it’s just fine.

I wouldn't mind having one, in addition to the N900 I'm using at the moment.

Symbian has had its day. Hell! Even I was getting sick of its unnecessary complexity. And, MeeGo is definitely future oriented. I just wish Nokia would put some real muscle behind it. However, since they're not the only company involved in it, there appear to be many that are interested, hopefully others will really focus on it and bring it forward to the mass market properly.

I'm taking back my comments about the lag. I've watched some other videos and clearly the first one I viewed (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-GmCxWwKcIs) it just seems that there is quite some lag (definitely in the maps app)

who's to say that the phone OS's have a finite life span? I think they don't, at least not iOS, WP or Android. Those will be around for many decades to come, as will Windows and OSX

The thing is, because iOS and Android have saturated the market so much (in their class) it has become pretty much impossible for other (sometimes even better) OS's to try and snatch a piece of the pie, let alone the whole pie... Some will get a big share, when they have a chance to diffirentiate themselves strongly enough to rise up and end up alongside with the big shots. But those chances are getting slimmer and slimmer in days were competition is as hot as it can be and were you can't start up a project without a massive install base or budget.

AnonD-4697, 21 Jun 2011The good point for Nokia is...They are trying to innovate. ... moreIt simply doesn't need a dual-core CPU, overpower CPUs is only usefull for laggy Android UIs. You can see how smooth the UI is with a Cortex A8, there a couple of videos with plenty of apps open in the background and instantaneous swifting between them even when it's a playing video. Not to mention stuff like 1Gb of RAM, what will make this phone a monster of multitasking, yeah, there are some droids out there with 1Gb of RAM, but N9 doesn't have those UI launchers with thousand of stupid widgets eating the memory. Instead, Nokia did a better, straight and professional-looking home-screen only for this kind of stuff.
I believe that this phone will be as fast or even faster than dual-core Android devices, also, you should remember that MeeGo has just born and it's already that awesome and fluid.
Oh and yeah, and as you mentioned, they are also trying to innovate, and they did.
