The more I see this Notch the more I think the alleged "plan b" design wouldn't have been that awful of a compromise... Plus we'd still have a fingerprint scanner and wouldn't be forced to use a sluggish, overshot facial recognition scanner.
But, for what it's worth, the corners of the screen would have ruined a proper movie watching experience anyways.

They should have just stretched it to where the notch is because watching anything full screen that notch is going to be a distraction plus it will cut out content that should be in that area.

Design wise and for the sake of enjoying the content (video/photos) that notch is just plain stupid and it seems unreal that they allowed such fuck-up to go through. I would have went for iphone X (i love all that gesture no button stuff) if the top would be completely filled with a bezel which wouldn't be that fat in comparison to regular iPhone anyway. It would still qualify as a bezels phone considering that they are also calling mi mix 2, s8+, note 8, v30 a bezel-less phone, although all of them have at least some bezel around or on top or beneath the screen, which is perfectly fine. Meaning this notch thing still does not make it more bezel-less than any other mentioned wannabee bezel-less phone out-there.
Besides the mentioned, it also seems crazy that now every app creator now has to deal with this crap of a design/half-a$$ solution on their way to a bezel-less phone.
