You have to ensure that nothing else is impeded by adding that coil. Cost of components is always trivial compared to the cost of the product.

Just time u freshen up and get dressed for office is enough for getting to a 100%. But yes u might need a second pair of dash charger at your office which costs Rs.2000 if u are a heavy user like me. . . .

It delivers higher amperage as opposed to higher voltages, and all the heat is transmitted to the wall adapter (which is why it's bigger than others) other than the phone itself. I notice that when i charge my Note 8 with a fast charger it charges up quickly, gets hot, and the battery doesn't last very long (or as long as it should). With the Oneplus 5 it charges much faster, stays cool to the touch, and the battery lasts a very long time.
Heat is just as bad for you battery as freezing temperatures is. Wireless charging will not be good in the long run.

Both have their negatives and positives, but I believe wireless charging would prolong your battery's life on the long run.

Yes slow charging is great but how about you mention the heat that the wireless charging coil transmits onto the battery itself? Both my Note 8 & Lumia 920 get SUPER hot while on the wireless charger. Only thing being saved here is the actual charging port.

How about waking up plugging it in then unplugging before you head out? If you leave it for 30 mins you'd be surprised how much juice you can get with Dash Charging. Also wireless charging reduces the wear of your actual charging port but not of the battery.. the heat being transmitted onto your battery from the wireless charging coil isn't good for your battery at all.. just a thought.

I like wireless charging it's pretty convenient SOMETIMES, and it's a good way to reduce wear on your charging port. But guess what? Heat is your battery's worst enemy. The wireless charging coil on the back side of your device transmits a lot of unnecessary heat onto the battery which in turn reduces it's lifespan. So i'm going to go ahead and agree with Pete @ OnePlus. Dash charging is so fantastic that it has completely changed the way i charge my phone. I used to charge all night and unplug in the morning, now i fall asleep with out even worrying about it. I wake up and plug in for the 30-40 mins while i'm at home getting ready and that's usually enough for the whole entire workday and deep into the afternoon. (5 - 5.5 hrs of screen on time consistently, about 14-16 hrs total).

Because wireless charging increases the cost of the phone without adding sufficient value. I would prefer not paying for features that are not practical yet.

This piss poor excuse. Why not have both fast and wireless options. The best way to charge a phone would be to put it on a wireless charging pad before going to bed. Always fully charged in the morning of every day and no damn plugging in.

I agree with his last point about gaming. I prefer to be plugged in while gaming as it reduces the wear on the battery while keeping the battery charged. Though I take pictures while my phone is charging, taking a phone out from a wireless charger to take a photo is obviously easier.
I now have the S8+ and with its 10nm SoC, I noticed that it is truly power efficient even while gaming. The battery charge is going up while I'm plugged in to a 500ma computer USB port in contrast to my Nexus5 that chews through the battery while its plugged to the same port. I'm trying to say here that fast charging tech can be overkill for these efficient chips as I have never used my Samsung charger, only the USB port of my laptop.

“Lau also mentions that you can't pick up your phone to game or take a photo while it's wirelessly charging - or rather, you can, but the charging will stop. ” true, nothing has changed in wireless charging since Nokia first used it in 2012. Even Samsung’s apple shaming video showed that apple user could still use iPhone with that dongle while the galaxy user had to leave the phone charging on the wireless cradle and not being able to use phone.

Wireless char... moreFirstly, wireless charging doesn't put more strain on your battery at all, quite the contrary in fact, because it's inductive charging and it's very slow and does very little harm to the battery as its slowly being charged. Secondly, yes, it's true that wired earphones will always yield better quality than a bluetooth connection for audio, but believe me, if convenience is what you're after, go buy yourself a set of Airpods, even for Android. The quality is good enough for most people and they are so nice to use and so light you forget they're in your ears.

Wireless charging puts a high strain on your battery since you will need to charge it for a few hours straight. Coming from a Nexus 5 i know what i'm talking about. using a USB-C adapter puts more weight to the port crippling it faster than it normally would. What if you lose your bluetooth headsets?
Why would you buy a 100US headsets if you can buy 7.1 stereo Headphones for 70US with much better quality and which at least covers your ears entirely?
I rather want quality than conveniency and that's why i opted to go to the OnePlus 5
