16:9 = great, best
18:9 / 18,5:9 = stupid, no tv has it. No content is made this way
4:3 = iPad wanna be bad tablets
21:9 = not good, not useless like 2:1

16:9 is still best, ranging from 4,5 inches display phone even to 6.0 inches though, HD quality TV also many used it, this can called trending display now without should upgrade with size wider.

2160 * 1080p is the best aspect ratio for future mobiles, TVs, monitors. But blu-ray CDs should comes with 2160 * 1080p aspect ratio.

I prefer 16:10. But media consumptionis better on 16:9. Not all games are built for 21:9 and more are built for 16:9/10

18:9 2x bend foldable screen would be ideal, you could get 3:2 aspect in tablet mode. However gamers and media enthusiast wont agree, 16:9, 21:9, for gamers even more wide ratios are welcome. Well, AR will solve that problem, will be in ''Full View'' after all.
In any way I'm excited to see move from microsoft and sony. Rumored surface note and next gen XZ1 Premium.

What's creating this craziness is the obsession with making phones bigger and bigger. Since our hands aren't growing phones are gonna end up looking like remote controls

In portrait mode the display is already tall enough, but every millimeter in width matters. Actually even when i browse in landscape mode on my 16:9 screen i wish it was wider. Especially if i use browser with toolbars. There is actually very little space left and you have to scroll up/down all the time.

Until TVs and PCs adopt 18:9 on a large scale having a 18:9 phones is quite detrimental for multimedia purposes .
Sure it looks good for your browser and facebook but other than that is not good . Who likes black bars ?
As far as comfort goes 18:9 is even harder to operate with one hand because the thumb tends to describe a circle when you move it around without readjusting your palm and that covers 16:9 better than the longer 18:9 . For 2 hands it does not matter anyway .
Overall 18:9 in 2017 is a huge gimmick based solely on marketing purposes. It might become better in the feature though .

In portrait mode your thumb won't be able to reach the top of the screen (Or it will be extremely uncomfortable). So why not a 5.7-6.0 in 16:9?
And 4.7-5.2 in 16:9 for those who want a compact phone. Most 16:9 phones have very poor screen to body ratio, actually. So they can alway be done much smaller with the same screens.

For example with a 6 inch 18:9 phone has about the same width of a 5.5 inch 16:9 one with more than 10% increase in screen area. The extra area is handy for reading and browsing.

16:9...I watch a lot of Youtube on my phone and most videos have 16:9 aspect ratio and I don't like to crop the person's head or use just 90% of the screen...If I have a bezelless screen, why shouldn't it be a 16:9 one?

5" 1080p 16:9. Everything over is over-rated. A lot of people won't agree, but they doesn't know how to use a phone or a tv/monitor.

18:9 Is just ridiculous. Even a 5 inch phone is a bit wider than a 18:9 5.5 inch. And it gets even worse/smaller when you watch anything in 16:9. And yet it's really tall. So it's bad for those who like big screens and at the same time bad for those who love compact phones. Absolute abomination.
