The black bars on AMOLED screen will cause burn-in because the pixels in the black bar area remain unused while the rest of the pixels are used. It's also true if you watch 4:3 movies (or play PS1 emulator games) on both 16:9 and 18:9 screen.

This is like lipstick on a pig.
          What's even worse:

....having a state of the art OLED screen, which cost you a lot of money, and is very fragile, with curved sides that cause glaring from light sources, it also drains the non-removable battery excessively due to its 3K high resolution/600ppi overkill density, but it's only 5 inch small size, a non-standard pixel width, with a 19:9 weird aspect ratio phone, and a distracting camera notch in the middle, trying to watch a video that's 360p, one that is highly compressed by YouTube, despite having a short video length, and its paused by a minute long non-skippable ad, and it is buffering .......oh, and the person recorded the video vertically!

Come, the future is here! ; )

The new display aspect ratio does not become more popular. It just gets shoved down people's throat. 18:9 aspect ratio is useless. It's a planned obsolescence to sell new phones and products.

Opening apps by a split second faster does not make a phone better. No one really cares about speed comparisons on youtube but Sony fanboys. What makes a phone better is its design, screen and camera quality, features and UI. And those are where Sony lag big time. Sony Xperia looks out of place and out of date in 2017. They look like dinosaur phones. It also doesn't help that the UI has not changed a bit since Kitkat. They look so ancient. Camera quality is also the worst among flagships. Plus loading them with pointless features like 3D scanning and a barely 3 seconds of 960fps video? Who even uses these?

The iPhone X, Note8 and S8 are the best smartphones released this year. The XZP is probably the worst.

(search "ultra wide" on youtube, you'd find plenty o' content and after this upgrade they'll eventually become the norm)

I would have thought Youtube wanted people to watch their videos, but they were quick to create a functionality so owners of the iPhone Notch can miss 30% of what's happening on the videos

Much content on youtube *is* of ultra wide aspect ratio and you used to have to watch it on a small rectangle in the middle ... no more. This fixes it, you're welcome to not use it on 16:9 videos (that would be silly indeed).
