02 July, 2011
Nokia has finally decided to pull out of the Japanese market entirely once and for all. Although Nokia stopped supplying handsets to Japanese carriers in 2008, Nokia’s luxury brand of handsets – Vertu...

Besides Apple has the computer division, eleltronics division, audio division among phone division.

And Nokia don't have the US market in their pockets for grab more money...

Might as well be yourself. I don't care about thumbs up. I know just by the reaction that people had, that the N9 would be much more successful than the Sea Ray. Hardly nobody was excited about the Sea Ray. Almost Everybody was excited about the N9, even non techies. Yes, the Average consumer that saw Meego on the N9 is MUCH more excited over that than different color "Tiles". The Average consumer sees it like this:
N9 Reaction: Whats this? Ooh it has multiple screens, ooh the icons are colorful and I can change them around. It looks like an iPhone with these icons (Major selling point for the N9). Ooh let me see the gps. Wow, it's in 3D. Nice! This thing is fast. Let me see the apps. Its got everything I need and games. Nice. Is the camera good? Wow, the camera looks great! I'll take one. (Cha-Chiiinggg $$$)
Sea Ray reaction: Whats this? Ooh it has moving tiles. Uh oh, I can't change the background. Can I put a picture in the background? I CAN'T? (Major drawback) How's the apps, ok it's got the necessary apps. How's the camera? It's ok, not great. Can it multitask? IT CAN'T? I see why people don't want this phone. YOU CANT DO WHAT YOU WANT ON IT. I'll Pass. Ooh, whats this *looks at the N9*

Maybe Nokia can retake Meego on near future, but the billionare contract they have in common can't be trashed..

Not even if Nokia sold 1 million Meego devices or more will be enough for Nokia to underestimate Microsoft contract. And believe me Nokias financials are in red numbers....

So, for better or worst Nokia needs that money, as much Microsoft need a branded name company for their new OS.....

Looking for another article to make it seem like Elop's plan to FORCE an OS on people is good? People shouldn't need to be FORCED to like an OS. If the OS was good enough, people will buy it anyway. WP7 does not have that kind of impact, Meego does.

AnonD-40, 02 Jul 2011Dude, you need some reality check. Do you really believe th... moreMost Nokia users are now Android and iOS users. Meego captured their attention enough to make them willing to move back to Nokia with just Showing ONE device (something Windows will NEVER be able to do). With that kind of pull, Meego could help Nokia be very successful again like Apple but not if Elop is going to kill it and make it not available in the Major supporting markets. That was HIS decision no matter how you look at it, HE is the CEO and a decision like that is HIS and that decision shows that he doesn't want Meego and wants to force WP7 on people that don't want it. People hate Microsoft cell phones, people LOVE the N9 (not you or boy with the red hat of course). Why can you and Elop not see past your "I want WP7, I know others don't want it but we must force them to usecthat closed source OS" and see the impact the N9 has made just with the unvieling alone?

its really sad seeing Nokia losing market share. Technology is evolving so fast that if the key players cannot cope with the change then they are doomed. Nokia is a household name in the past and so popular that any dick tom and harry owns one. It pains me to see the phone i develop loyalty and liking is losing to competition. I hope the research and development department find solutions to the resuscitate the company. I dont want to see Nokia becomes history.

Yet Another Android, 02 Jul 20113 phones by 2014 isn't enough to save Nokia right? Lets see... moreYes, that's Apple' strategy but Nokia is NOT Apple. That's a HUGE difference. You want Nokia to stay on course with the previous CEO's strategy? Guess what? That's the same CEO who Elop replaced and that's the same useless CEO who ran Nokia to the ground and you're gonna stick with his strategy? Genius!

Lets see, 3 phones in 3 years, sounds like what APPLE is doing with the iPhone. Apple only has 4 phones within 4 years so they must be doing terrible huh Nokia Rocks? Using your and Elop's logic, Apple, one of the biggest tech companies (with more market share than Microsoft now), should be doing terrible because they only released one phone a year.

Do you really believe that 3 MeeGo phones by 2014 is enough? Do you really expect it to sell like the iPhone? Apple can pull it off with just one phone per year but no one else was able to make that strategy off. That's a bigger risk to pull off and Nokia is not Apple.

You are gouging the demand of the N9 based on what you see on the net. Palm and its WebOS proved that it's not accurate.

As seen everywhere, Meego has caught the attention of Android and iOS fans. No other OS has done that, let alone looked good enough to make alot of them say "wow, I may drop my OS for Meego". Meego has the potential that WP7 will NEVER have.

Stay for decades as CEO of Nokia and Nokia wil... moreGuys, if there is anyone to blame then it is the previous Nokia CEO who ran Nokia to the ground. Don't blame everything on Elop. He has done nothing but try to undo the previous CEO's mistakes. Elop is trying to save Nokia.

Do you guys even know that Nokia was only going to be able to produce 3 MeeGo phones by 2014 if they went with the previous CEO's original plan? Elop realized that 3 MeeGo phones by 2014 is NOT ENOUGH to keep Nokia afloat. It would have led them to certain doom if they went with the original plan to use MeeGo as their primary platform.

Please read the article below. It's a very good read and you'll see how the previous CEO ran Nokia to the ground and how Elop is trying to save the company. Please read it. I know it's 7 pages long but it's well worth it.

Japan is a completely different market, one where you can still buy Japanese phones! The only vaguely Japanese handsets you see outside of Europe are Sony Ericsson, but their domestic market is dominated by Japanese manufacturers. It's no surprise to see Nokia pulling out.
