SSDs grow bigger and bigger, phone storage has been lagging for years.

32gb for a phone is more than enough . For a pc i have 3tb and is almoust full .

Your sd cards can easily be stolen, even your phone is an easy target. Try to study a little more, kiddo. You aren't safe, no matter what. But that doesn't change the fact that you actually don't need that much space, as long you use the phablet normally.

      Guess what,not everybody has the same as you,and some of us like to keep our data precisely like that,our data,not accessible to any script kiddy or dodgy employee or government cowboy with a warrant or court order.

        For me is not a matter of storage amount because I'm golden with "just" 64GB however I do think that SD cards should continue to be used I mostly use it to store media such as pictures and videos taken with my phone I recently had a bad experience with a broken device if it wasn't for the SD card I would have lose a good part of what I wanted to keep

            Why can't you just use your PC to move all of your pics and vids there once you're out of storage? I've been doing that with my iPhone 5S though I don't do much with my phone. Really, I still don't understand the mentality of you Power Users.

            Seriously, use a desktop/laptop to put the unneeded files there.

                Ok, the concept behind sd may be old, but you can't call them outdated because every year they make better and better sd cards that cost hundreds of euro. Take Sandisk for example.
                If you buy a GOOD SD card, you will not notice any lags or slowing down. But most of the people have no clue there are different types of cards and they buy the cheapest one, but expect stellar performance. Who's fault is that?
                In the future I'd like to see SSD replace SDs on phones, of course in a much smaller size.

                  64gb is more than enough, really, if you somehow run out of it in long term just transfer videos and photos to your PC and that s it. Obviously if you are not bright enough and apple is your choice, you could and up paying insane prices just to get 256gb version, but blame apple, they the one which makes life difficult for you and you still buy their products or some gimmicky cloud storages, after all it is your choice to be treated as stupid :)

We will all eventually just keep EVERYTHING in the cloud. It's easy and it's accessible from any device. Phone, laptop, desktop, tablet, library PCs, work laptops/desktops, basically any device nowadays.
                    Besides this, you trash your device? Oh, that's not nice at all, but you know what's nice? NOT having to worry about recovering your data from said device. Your files, photos, videos, documents, etc. are all safe in the cloud. Just get a new device and you're the same as you were with the old device.
                    SD cards are generally slow, and if they're encrypted they're even slowerrrr. If you don't encrypt them, then they're not secure and anyone can just take your SD card out and get access to all the info on it.

                    So no, using SD cards is not actually good, and is an archaic method of storing your personal stuff. That is unless you only store music, movies, books, etc. on the SD - and no personal stuff whatsoever.

                        Just an excuse to either make people use cloud solutions and/or upgrade to the next available solution at ripoff prices compared to microsd equivalent.

                          For me? 64 and above. Not even looking on the 32 and 16. (unless it's intentioned for MUSIC ONLY.) And a MicroSD is a must.
                          For those who are curious "Why the heck do you need 64 GB AND a MicroSD card Kiyasuriin!?" 2 REASONS:
                          1. AS many do. I use the SD card as backup. I will NEVER buy a phone without an SD card unless there's absulutely NO PHONES with an SD Card slots. (but Hybrid slot is fine by me. I use 1 sim anyway.)
                          2. Even though it's fun to unload the phone from all the junk of drunk cats and family and Tumblr's insanity goodies. I love to have a copy of that on my phone. I never download a full movie to my phone. and prefer to do a direct-watch to it.

                            I prefer 64GB with a micro SD slot. I don't buy a phone without a card slot. But yes data in micro SD is not secure if your phone got stolen..

No problem at all..

                                  Except for the apps, only the downloads folder sometimes contains some recent files. That's it.
                                  Having a GOOD SD card makes all the difference though.
                                  If i brake my phone (software or hardware or both) i just get the sd out and buy a new phone. So buying a large capacity phone makes no sense for me. You're gonna change it eventually but the sd you're gonna keep.
                                  I do have some backup on my pc that i barely turn on anymore.
                                  SD contains : apk kits(2.3GB), various linux, windows, android kits(4.3GB) , audio books(1GB), movies(2.7GB), music(3.6GB), photo collection and albums (27.6 k and growing 13.62GB).
                                  So yeah. Can't live without SD card and probably will buy a phone that doesn't have the sd card slot ONLY when there won't be any available. Same applies regarding the 3.5mm jack.

                                        I would like to see a breakdown on people's storage use. Like how much they waste on:
                                        - music
                                        - movies
                                        - photos
                                        - video recordings
                                        - documents? (even though these really take up any space at all)

                                        And then apps:
                                        - socialising apps (Facebook, Whatsapp, Snapchat, Tinder, Twitter, etc.)
                                        - media consumption (Youtube, Deezer, Spotify, etc.)
                                        - office, books, etc.
                                        - image editors
                                        - video editors
                                        - sound editors
                                        - content creation (web, sounds, mockups, etc.)
                                        - programming and testing tools
                                        - cloud local storage
                                        - other

                                        I'm also curious on the total number of apps people usually have on their phones on average.

                                        I must admit I needed a bit more storage space when I was using a 16gb phone, but that was mostly because I always had at least 2-3 full-length movies saved, listened to music only in flac format (very large files), and was downloading archives and stuff from my work account so I can access files on the go. Oh, and a couple big games like 1,5 gb each and some other random photo editors and various apps.
                                        And I almost always had about 2 gb left at all times. It was only rare that I needed to delete some movie or something in order to free up space for some 600 mb downloads.
                                        I've upgraded to 32 gb this year, and I still haven't crossed the 16 gb mark. (11 months later)
                                        I've taken trips across Europe, took hundreds of photos and some videos. Got home, unloaded them to my laptop and my memory was available again. Also have them saved in the cloud automatically, so there's no need to keep a copy of everything on my phone considering I can access these anywhere and from any device.

                                        So how come some other people use outrageous amounts of storage going over the 64/128/256gb limits on their phones? Do they keep everything on their phones and not use the cloud or their laptops to store things? Do they install myriads of apps that they forget about and/or almost never use?
                                        Just curious on the numbers. And the frequency these are getting used.
