I work in the industry, I have to say that if you look at the current progression of technology (5 years ago Dual core PCs were top dollar) now there are phones with dual core. It won't be long before there is quad core processed phones on the market.. if not by the end of this year, certainly next year... but its poses the question...

Do we really need quad core phones??

that very well said , these companies do have capability to put higher configuration but they snatch the amount invested in R&D ....
I hope if any company could do to make screen size flexible also which will eliminate the need of tablets ... one mobile will be all ... :)

AnonD-6077, 06 Jul 2011I know cycle speeds aren't everything, but with phone CPU's... morethey could sell 2 ghz today but the market doesnt work like that, its all about money and taking one step at the time..

I know cycle speeds aren't everything, but with phone CPU's about to hit 1.4GHz already I fail to understand why it's going to take Qualcomm until 2013 to break the 2GHz barrier? If this is the case I think they are going to loose their market position very quickly..

Galaxy S II with dual-core 1.2 GHz lasts bit longer than Galaxy S with Single core. Faster + multiple core processor don't necessarily mean they drain battery quicker.

                        Just one little, tiny detail.

Direct X 9.3 DOES NOT EXIST. Never have, never will.

                        Either is wrong or fake.

                            Hardware progress faster than software..
the current dualcore processor are still an overkill on every apps on the market.. though it's necessary to process 1080p videos..

quadcore?? beastly performance, but they need to develop better batteries..

At the rate phones are advancing I just cant decide whether to wait for the new tech which is around the corner or get the latest phone now... then again you get the latest phone now then about 1 month to 2 months later its out of date again.
