The Nokia 3 is on 7.1.1 not 7.0 & it's got monthly security updates every month up to November (not yet December but probably before the end of the year). Way better than even some flagships.

LG superfan, 02 Dec 2017Will nokia 2 be updated?Yes. All Nokia smartphones will get Android 8.0 Oreo. But Nokia 5 and 6 should get it till the end of this year. That's what HMD promised. Let's hope they will keep their promise. :)

This seems like an excellent reason to never use MediaTek SoC's. Do they still refuse to release their kernel source under GPL, or keep their kernels updated? It just makes updates and development so much harder.
Project Treble may alleviate this issue a bit, but it won't make it go away entirely.

The updates make those Nokia phones much more appealing. If they get 2 major updates, they could easily replace Motorola in the low end market. I think this justifies their higher-than-average pricing in this price section.
