"Exclusive to South Korea, China, etc.".

Let's face it, you can't get 64GB+ smartphones from Samsung unless you live in South Korea or import them from China, etc.

So, even if they make a 512GB module for smartphones and if it will be available by the year 2019 (if next year, then even better) it will be ridiculously expensive and an Asian exclusive... which sucks!

UFS external storage slots would better to have -.-, at least you could buy a much faster card alternative to microSD and retain the 32/64GB form factor in modern flagships.

It may be just me, but, once you cross the 1000€ line, and since you assume the phone's camera is really, really good (especially so at 4K video or high framerate slow motion clips) then 128GB+ should be the bare minimum.

1020€ for a Note 8 with 64GB of storage is just a way to ridicule out of unsuspecting or malinformed costumers!

And by next year. Android phones will release a new model that has 12GB's of Ram that utilizes 256GB to 512GB of internal storage. Which the cost would be above the $1,000 mark.
And 512GB of external storage like the microSD will release in the market. Too bad. All android phones don't support 512GB's of readable storage. And would most likely to lag since most android phones only has 2 to 3 GB's of ram. While to some have 4GB to 8GB But still not tested to support 512GB of external storage.

AnonD-39937, 05 Dec 2017What the heck? Who uses a Phone to record 21h of 4K video?!... moreThose who don't need have a choice not using it or not buying the one with that amount of storage. There's always Apple and Google for those who have less storage needs. But some of us like files to be available for offline use, it takes a lot of storage to have 200 odd songs from tidal hifi, also takes lot of storage to have netflix fhd movies for offline. So yeah storage has its usage.

What the heck? Who uses a Phone to record 21h of 4K video?! Nowadays you don't need 512GB of storage not even on a laptop is you aren't a photo/video editor or something similar...

Anonymous, 05 Dec 2017Yes that would be nice 64 should become midrange base stora... moreThe 'craze' started and continues with Apple iPhones which still after 10 years still do nite have memory expansion.

So with 8Gb gross to accommodate system, 16Gb, 32Gb you had to essentially pre plan

With no memory expansion you carry everything around, why the memory card is so important

My App are in phone memory
I have 40 full albums; 140 music videos; 280 individual music songs, I however do not take many photos, relying on the mirror and not the selfie

I do have also a USB, which I use to back up the mSD card

All this is on a 16Gb card which I still have 4.5Gb free

It would require multiple phone recharges just to play & watch everything just once and that is 16Gb which is 1/32nd of the 512 Gb card

There will be many where even 64Gb is not enough, 128Gb maybe, there comes a point where you are not wearing your favourite clothes but have your entire wardrobe

Eg the music can be categorized as Library then Artists, Albums, Genres
Then All Songs create a playlist or add favourites
A super fast scroll and search

I suppose if you want to go completely digital then this is for you

Anonymous, 05 Dec 2017I think it unnecessary. 64GB is a huge storage. And th... moreit might be ok for you and thats great mate, but to dismiss it shows your lack of understanding of modern tech and its requirements, my phone shoots in 4k and can easily use Gbs of storage in MINUTES, i shoot in RAW on my phone, and a Single image can easily be 30mb, multiply that by 1 or 2 hundred files, and you talking lets say anywhere from 4-6gb, 1 single lossless album with 12 songs can be 400mb compared to an mp3 at 98mb, i have 3 games totalling 8gb, my point being that with modern apps and such 64gb can easily be burned through in a matter of weeks, this isnt your average user but its easily done, 128gb for a flagship at the current prices should be the standard in my opinion

Be Nice To Others, 05 Dec 2017Storage capacity demand is an endless routine. Today, capa... moreto be honest mate, supply has always been behind demand in my view, given that we have 4k movies, along with cameras that shoot RAW and produce large JPEGS, lossless music, console graphic looking games with Gbs of data required, and thats before the endless apps that people run nowadays consuming 100s of Mbs, 64gb just isnt quite enough, micro sd is fine for a lot of it but just not fast enough, whatever happened to the micro UFS chips that samsung announced about 2 years ago, the industry standard for a flagship nowadays should be 128gb in my opinion, and mid range should get 64gb and low end 16/32gb depending on the value of the handset

well i never filled my phone storage to the max. i don't see the point of 512GB. i know pics and videos are taking up more space, but people should keep things to a minimum on their phone. use only what you need.

Storage capacity demand is an endless routine.
Today, capacity X is more than good enough, then tomorrow, capacity Y will be considered "average" and makes capacity X totally obsolete.

Remember when people used to say that an 8GB SD Card is more than enough?

Seams Toshiba eUFS based 64 layers TCL Bics have a performance lead over Samsung new one's.

I mean with the dawn of a 1000 dollar phones 128 gb should be the base
But at the same time im afraid to ask for this since i dont want them to get rid of the SD card reader
And tbh 64gb plus an internal SD card reader is enough on phones in my case my 64gb is paired with a 256gb card and bam all the storage i need
I do not want to see the SD card reader be taken away like the headphone jack was smh

                                      64GB is a huge storage.
And the SD cards to save photos, docs, videos..

My phone has 32GB abd 22 GB free.
Out of box android 5.0.1 and now 7.1.1.

There are the native apps ( google + OEM) plus 43 downloded.
All apps are updated and dont use 4GB.
                                      System uses about 9.5.

                                      I am using about 14GB.

I know many users have more apps, lot of games ... But it is hard to imagine a way to spend whole 64GB or more for apps
