Shootergod, 14 Dec 2017Well note 8, clearly is the winner by display in this year ... moreFirstly, the list is in no particular order, its not ranked 1 to 10. Secondly, none of what you are saying is relevant to the screen. The iPhone X screen is slightly better for sunlight legibility and colour accuracy when compared to Note 8. Stop being such a hater

Well note 8, clearly is the winner by display in this year of 2017, with 6.3 inches screen over flowing edge to edge beautifully, high pixel density (500+ ppi), 60 Hz refresh rate + HDR support Super-AMOLED screen with the features packed. So yeah, nothing to be argued there!

But, I-ph X shouldn't be in second (may be third, to be fair), although I give them a credit for their good color calibration, lower pixel density with no proper features for example (I presume Animojis are for kids, compared to DeX, S-Pen,Bixby + Bixby Vision etc),not to mention, Notch on top of the phone's display is making them looks like a clown in design wise and usability. And their sucky, slow, insecure face ID (but I do not blame them a lot as it is their first gen, try outs), why don't they give other options like finger print scanner or eye scanner etc)? Are they keeping those options for their next iph X generations? sigh!

Whites looks white in basic, no yellow stuff, S8 screen is much better than any redmi phone, it's incomparable, I can't beleive you don't see difference in quality

AnonD-698441, 11 Dec 2017G6, V30, Nokia 8, ... !!! Lots of comments mentioning the exclusion of these phones from the list. Do remember that this is a list of ten BEST smartphone displays. To secure a place in this list a smartphone display must have -- high brightness, high contrast, low reflectivity, good sunlight legibility, good viewing angles, good colour accuracy (avg deltaE of less than 5.0), support for trending display technologies (HDR10, Dolby Vision), and high DCI-P3 coverage.
Coming to the popular phones excluded from the list:
                                        1) Lg V30 - it has high brightness, high contrast, good sunlight legibility, support for dolby vision and hdr10; but let down by poor viewing angles, and avg colour accuracy (deltaE higher than 6.0). The duo of s8 and note 8 (v30's main competitor) have all of it's pros (except supp for Dolby Vision) without having any of it's cons.
                                        2) Lg g6 - high contrast (for lcd), support for HDR10 as well as Dolby Vision, good viewing angles, middling brightness (less than 600 nits), middling sunlight legibility (less than 4.0), good enough colour accuracy (avg deltaE 4.0). These scores are good for an lcd, but falls short of the fierce oled competition. Thus, failing to make the cut.
                                        3) Nokia 8 - high brightness (700 nits), high contrast (for an lcd), good sunlight legibility (more than 4.0), good viewing angles, poor colour accuracy (avg deltaE mor than 5.0), no support for wide colour gamut, no support for Dolby Vision or HDR10. Again, these scores are good in themselves, but competition has moved on. Thus, failing to make the cut.
The same holds true for any phone not mentioned on this list. They may have good scores in most of the categories, but fall behind the competition on closer scrutiny.
