07 July, 2011

mmmmmmm, 08 Jul 2011so you could say samsung has sold over 30 million with one ... moreSamsung's ONLY phone to ever sell 30 million was NOT an Android phone, nor is it a smartphone. It is the widely popular Star. None of their Android sets (or ANYBODY'S Android phones) have sold as many by themselves as the iPhone 4 or the iPhone 3gs.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_best-selling_mobile_phones

That's over 60 million iPhones. Add that to the 15 million the iPhone 3G sold.

Apple is already making a proper handset and its selling great. For a company that has only been making phones for 4 years and only has sold 4 different models - selling about 80 million phones is a staggering statistic.

The galaxy S only sold 10 million.

Charlie, 08 Jul 2011Android used to suck, but SGS II is just WOW. I think that ... moreI doubt they feel threatened by a phone that overheats and is made by a company who's customer satisfaction rating scores below industry averages. And who's market share has been stagnant for a while.

It's also worth highlighting, that even though China gets all the credit for clones and copying, there is also a very high copy-culture by Korea as well.

What is worse is that once they copy something, they claim it proudly as Korean. One example is Kendo, which now Koreans claim to have invented as Gumdo. I mean, imitate by all means, but to suddenly claim it and say the other side copied? A bit much:

Two videos below on this culture:

          Kendo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ImWL-N582ZU

          Copy Culture http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z-mu2_QbKKc

Again, I can't be bothered to make comments on the Apple Samsung case, but its good to have background information. Knowledge is power!

Apple probably considers them a joke at best. I bought one once just to see how good it was. It's terrible.

Samsung didn't gain any market share, Apple gain 1,2% samsung is the one who sould be scared, because apple did better than samsung.

Android gain fast because of those very cheap android phones, no because of hi-end expensive ones, hardly see any of those in any sells top 5 charts. Where i live zte blade has been only one which really can compete sells with iPhone 4 and even almost free zte looses almost every month.

                        samsung is not only android

Anonymous, 08 Jul 20111 - Apple most certainly never got its ass kicked by Samsun... moreso you could say samsung has sold over 30 million with one handset and Apple has sold over 30 million with one handset. difference is samsung has more then one handset, if Apple decides to bring out a proper smart phone samsung should sue them for copying

I have a question for the GSMArena team, or someone else with deeper knowledge on the legal side of the matter.

If Apple succeeds in banning the Galaxy, is it illegal for a customer to buy one from, say, the british EBay? How about importing your own USED Galaxy?

Of course Apple is scared of Samsung. Just look at Androids marketshare, it's slowly eating iOS marketshare like a piece of pie. And the reason iOS is losing old and new market to Android is first of all Samsung and then HTC. Sony Erircsson don't sell enough phones to be contrubuting to Androids market dominance. Without Samsung, Android would not have sucha big marketdominance, even though HTC is now coming pretty strong. It's just a matter of time before Apple try to sue HTC also "for something that probably Nokia invented to begin with". I don't know about USA, but here in Sweden, i see more and more people abbandoning the iPhone ship and going Samsung/HTC Android, mostly for the bigger webbrowsing screens but also better software/hardware.

Warren-G, 08 Jul 2011But isn't it obvious that samsung isn't denying copying app... morebecause samsung's fans already done discussing that matters.. some of them agreed, some of them are not.. and because apple is copying too, even though not samsung, so they dropped it.
