Weekly poll results: 64GB-128GB is the sweet spot for storage

10 December 2017
Firmware files suggest the display might have rounded corners like the iPhone X and Essential PH-1.

Or you could watch a movie or maybe two. Still not a lot of space needed.

Point is you don't need your photo and video albums saved on your phone and available at all times. So 32 GB is more than enough for all your needs, as long as you unload your digital memories from your phone. Either upload them to the cloud or save them on your laptop. Or both.

I have a 32 gig micro sd card and my honor 8 is 32 gigs also. My honor 8 is like 85% full of apps and I use the micro sd card just for high files, vids, and pics.

This is quite a clear-cut discussion, not even a "debate".

          Are you buying a Flagship?

If yes, then the Phone needs to have 64GB internal and a MicroSD.

If not, then the Phone needs to have at least 32GB internal and a MicroSD card.

There you go... Nothing more to talk about.

Different people, different needs. What happens if you run out of power or internet. Stare at the wallpaper?
You go ahead and share your data with those spies. If they want my data, they're gonna have to do it the hard way.
Are you sure you don't work for Fuggle? Stop shoving down our throats those stupid lame cloud services. We don't want to use them.
And don't give me that future bs.

Scattman, 11 Dec 2017The day I can upload my 10,000 spotify songs to any Cloud I... moreYou don't need 10.000 songs available to you at all times, anytime. Just stream them and store a few hundred offline if you really need to. Stop being a hoarder - it's not good for you.
You don't need every single thing available offline.

So my point still stands and yours doesn't.

Nowadays the cloud is all you need. And a maximum of 32 GB on your device.
All things stay in the cloud, except for new content that you get on your phone. At end of the month just upload everything to the cloud and you're all set.

No need to store countless GB on your phone and always have all your photos and videos ready available on your phone. If you want to have a look at your digital memories just connect to wifi. (or use your 3G/4G connection)

If a phone lacks the SD card slot I'm instantly not interested what are the rest of the specs anymore. It's immediately scratched of my list. I couldn't care less if it has 10GB RAM or 120Hz display.
NO SD card slot >> NOT INTERESTED!
Same rule applies to the 3.5mm jack.

Before long, the 128GB will be the new 64GB. I am hoping that soon, we will start to see mid-range to flagship models that offer 128GB Internal Storage, Dual Sim and a dedicated MicroSD Card Slot with at least 256GB capability. Since phones are beginning to cost as much as an ordinary ultrabook, it would be nice if they offer better storage without having to compromise other aspects so people who are always on the go have better options to choose from.

Well ....I used the robin and it was great....I never had to worry about storage because I had 132GB + Unlimited photos and video (thx to Google Photos).....but ....i just downgraded to 16gb on the nokia lumia 925 bc like--windows phones do NOT have apps lol... I just did not need a phone to do more than call, text, use the web, and maybe watch a quick video... I have a computer that runs apps w. the google play store (Chromebook 13 G1) and I have a custom 1tb gaming PC so... storage is not my concern XD

With cameras getting better and better 64GB should be the base model with higher storage as option. Also I know streaming music is now a thing but sometimes you don't have the signal to do so which means downloading and storing onto phone is necessary. It's never bad to have more storage options.

Android 7 allows for share storage between internal and SD-MY phone is HTC 10 but all nougat phones (maybe marshmellow phones) should have the possibility- I use a 128GB UHS-1 U3 and it works as fast as internal storage(there are faster SDs available if you want but things like taking photos are seamless and snappy on mine, also 4K recording-actually regular SDs will have problem to store more than 3 12MP pics in one second witch is now only restricted by my finger speed Not to mention 4K play and record will have problems on regular SDs. SO if the phone has this feature i will get a 32GB and use it cause OEMs charge heavily on memories without even tell why the hell.

Dedicated External Card Slot is kind of a must have. User should have his/her own choice of memory expansion. But even for average user 64 GB should be minimum.

32 is actually enough. Or maybe I just live somewhere with sweet cheap data and wifi? Or why would you need more? I got 64GB space on my Mi A1 and only used 22gb of the available space.

If there is a microSD card slot, then 32GB is forgivable, otherwise minimum is 64GB.

Be Nice To Others, 10 Dec 2017SD Card must always be present all the time. You don't know... moreMaybe we will see 128GB as the base storage for the high-end flagships a few years later, but SD Card is a must, especially for photos and videos, u never know when your smartphone is gonna spoil, and even though Google Photos may be a good place to save those, they are not in the original resolution as time goes on
