Mr. Electronics, 13 Dec 2017Guys, I have a dying question. I have a Lenovo yoga 720 whi... moreDon't get it, unless you are going to be using a eGPU.
Most Yoga 720's come with an Intel Iris iGPU, and its too weak.
And even the highest-end GTX 1050 are not that powerful, and sort of too weak for VR/AR.

Connecting externalGPU from a bandwidth limiting ThunderBolt 3-USB-C port, which houses a graphics card that's as powerful as an AMD R9 290, GTX 970, GTX 1060, or AMD RX 470. That should work. However, the dual core processor is fast, but is ONLY dual core. So you're definitely going to run into stuttering and break immersion.

And even if things work fine, you do realise that you're going to run out of battery?
The only way to charge the Yoga 720 is through the USB-C port, but we need it to connect to the eGPU box (eg AKiTiO Node).

Overall, you need a faster laptop with more ports to get a passable VR experience.
It will be akin to Mobile Phone VR, a very "meh" immersion.
A PS4 Pro and PSVR would be a better experience.
A Gaming PC and HTC Vive would be the best.

Guys, I have a dying question. I have a Lenovo yoga 720 which is compatible with Windows mixed reality headsets, but not the ultra versions. Do you guys know if the Samsung hmd odyssey is a ultra headset since I'm planning on buying it?
