If I'm Sony I'll go to this direction:
        - use Z5 platform size
        - stretched the screen to get 5.5" with 18:9 ratio
        - increase the battery a bit
        - done

Sony mobiles always stand out from the crowd. But expensive.

Looks ugly. Three sided bezelless designs suck. The asymmetry is disgusting. Just like the mi mix/2 and sharp aquos. Try again sony. I'd rather you stick to your z line designs and just improve everything. Go back to the glory days of the z2, z3, and z3 compact. Otherwise, you will remain to be irrelevant in the smartphone space. Already outside the top 10 oems for a couple of years or even more now. That should ring bells.

No amount of "futuristic" and "it's 2017" and "it's the trend" kind of excuses can stand in front of PRACTICALITY. it's the first and last rule of industrial design. So impractical and literally useless "features" like samsung's "edge" gimmick (one of the main reasons i didn't buy note 8 along with it's useless "portrait" cam) or the almost epidemic idiotic side or back firing mono speakers are... well , idiot and leaves some, speechless and repeatedly disappointed. And now sony plans on ditch the stereo speakers? Seriously? One of the few things that they've done right!!? And for what for a stupid trend!!? I optimistically hope not

Does such thin bezels suggest a use of an OLED screen? (I think it's not possible to achieve such bezels when using an LCD screen).
