Google Pixel 2 headphone adapter not working for some users

19 December 2017
Specifically, users say the adapter doesn't work as the sound comes from the phone's speakers instead of headphones.

my old xperia x8 had a heaphone jack, my nexus 5 had one, now my oneplus 5T has one too and my next device will have it too. I depend on the headphone jack too much, everyday i plug in my expensive wired heaphones for the true 7.1 immersive sound that no earplugs not wireless ones can provide.

Anonymous, 19 Dec 2017Just use bluetooth head set people, its as good as the old ... moreBluetooth headset exists since 2003 on the Nokia 7650.. Yet it failed to kill 3.5mm jack even after 15 years.. And it is not going to even in the years to come simply because 3.5mm jack is universal and used in much more audio applications/devices than just phones.. PC/Laptop/Amplifiers/Home entertainment/Radio/Music player/Studio/Disc Jockey so on and so forth all rely on the 3.5mm jack.. You will see in the future the phone maker will do a U-turn and revive the 3.5mm jack.. Same as Apple will revive the Touch ID after Face ID flop

.alpha, 19 Dec 2017Wireless is the future. Lot of people still hold on to head... moreWireless audio is better than wired one? Which area? Audio quality? Audio delivery(lag/responsiveness)? ease-of-use(plug n play vs charge and pair)? Cost?

.alpha, 19 Dec 2017Wireless is the future. Lot of people still hold on to head... moreif wireless was truly the future then these earphones would have been popular at the time these blutooth earphones started coming out,the only reason wireless is getting popular is due to the fact that apple didnt want(they could have but they started giving excuses),hopefully companys like samsung and oneplus dont stop supporting headphone jack,i wnat my next phone to have headphone jack too

AnonD-80334, 19 Dec 2017Seriously, I laugh when people try to tell me bluetooth is ... moredamn so true XD

I used to have Moto stereo bluetooth headsets long time before Apple had epiphany that wireless audio is future, got irritated because of having to charge it every time. The removal of that jack is greedy attempt on monetizing wireless headphone accessory market that is still largely untapped. Sometimes truth is right there in your face staring and people think it can't be that obvious and find convoluted logic to defend their favorite brands. The sooner they get out of that brand slavery, the better it's for all consumers in general. Google mocked Apple and now doing same sh*t, no wonder they launched their own wireless headphones this year, the very year they got rid of headphone jack. It seems consumer market is now becoming beta testing market for these companies who either can't afford decent QA budget or are too greedy to spend time and money on releasing products which are polished in terms of QC....

I guess I need to replace my TV and Home theater to get those that use only Bluetooth and dongles as audio output.

Google pixel 2 xl= the beta machine.
Even though other screen related issues are fixed, the blueish tint issue is actually an issue, that cannot be fixed due to that stupid LG made P-OLED screen. I tried reading articles having a grey background on the screen while lying down on bed , the tint distracts and is bothersome.
And now the headphone issue. Google, yeah, the name is google, actually made a fan-tastic performing smartphone that is in the beta stage and is its name is "Pixel 2 XL" accompanied by a younger brother named "Pixel 2" with lesser issues.
                                    Sad...

pay more money to the dongle gods
