I think Samsung will increase the screen real estate by bringing back the touch bottons to the lower bezel. That's the only way to design the phone with a symmetric design and avoid the apple like notch.

as both represent a ra... moreyup exactly, the aspect ratio is the same but the display is bigger. good point. i was referring to the width and height of the phone. Phones will become bigger and bigger, that's the truth we can't deny. Even tho i find a 6inch screen with a 18:9 to be the perfection i just wonder how phones will be in 2025.

Samsung was the first to offer this ratio.. now everyone is going the same way.. at least 2x1 which is a great way to give a bigger screen on a device the same size and sometimes (S8) even thinner in the hand!
I'm convinced the extra 0.5 in the 18.5x9 it would normally be.. is specifically for the bottom screen buttons therefore still giving a 18x9 screen ratio at all times... and it's a fantastic idea!
everyone is jumping on the bandwagon now.. just like they did when Samsung made the first big screen "phablet" phone .. and the curved edge is now very subtle too.. and really gives you no bezels on the sides.. i will be sticking with the best.. And it's definitely Samsung.. even the new midrange A8 is looking AWESOME!

What's the point in bezelless display and 18.9/21.9 ratio and whatnot? they are expensive to produce and lack of spare parts meaning it's impossible to replace damaged bezelless display if a device is more than 1 years old. You see these old flagships like old Google Nexus or Sony Xperia Z series are easy to find replacement parts in third party's repair shops unlike today where there is high demand in bezelless display which the model likely to become discontinued after 6 months. Some people are so thick before they know it.

I'd be interested if they would ditch the edge display. But since they won't and I'm interested only in high-end flagships, I'm gonna choose a different brand.
I hate the content is stretched on the sides + accidental touches + VERY FRAGILE display = NO BUY!

And even if it was the future...well we are living in the PRESENT, i don't care what will be the best solution years from now, i only care what is best NOW. And it's either 16:9 or 18:9 (Either option has its pros and cons depending on your usage)). Because in this reality there is no 18:6 content and it's useless, totally inconvenient aspect ratio.
