AnonD-664474, 30 Dec 2017To be frank, both Pixel 2 and U 11 have great hardware. It ... moreOIS is useful only when you need slow shutter.

For daylight shots like 1/200s, 1/300s, 1/700s or 1/4000s the OIS becomes useless.
It also sucks for moving object because it cant act that fast. You cant take blur-free pics of children at play, birds flying or cars.

Also it does not help to record videos. When you have only EIS it works with gyro. It will detect shaking way faster and do the job.

Check any stabilization test.. Z1 is more stable than S8

OIS can be turned off, it will work every single time you use camera.

Many real cams dont have OIS..

DanishBeacon, 30 Dec 2017Did anybody notice that iPhone X only records in mono sound... moreImho mono is a "small problem" compared to pretty much garbage sound quality.
Just listen to a video recorded with an iPhone, voice recording is best example - low ress, artefacts, aggressive noise canceling, "grainy" etc. are especially noticeable.
I would recommend MKBHD videos, where he showcases Tesla model 2, he shot some of them completely on an iPhone. You can clearly hear, there is something wrong with his voice.

Not bad, not bad at all. Nice sound capture and image quality, a tad weird stabilization and slower adaption to light change, but as I said, not bad.
I am kinda impressed with camera improvements Asus made since last gen.

BTW. I am not home at the moment, so I can't check it. Does Asus record in stereo or mono. I feels like it's stereo, but I don't have my equipment here, so I am not sure.

Sigh...again, Video sound is an afterthought. Thus no Nokia (which kicks serious ass with its OZO mics)

Vonarian, 31 Dec 2017Where are ASUS devices? Not in the best video recording category.
To be honest, did ever Asus phone win any category? They make ok phones, but i don't remeber anything great about them (OKish midrange).

TheGoldenMellifluous, 31 Dec 20171.) Sony camera's post processing / algorithm / software us... moreRight, its better overall. But you can still find shots(also try yourself) with blurred details, showing less than 12mp cameras, mostly to the edges. And I thought it was gone too....

yea, 31 Dec 2017next year even ois xperia photos will be blurred by sony so... more1.) Sony camera's post processing / algorithm / software used to be not good comparing other OEM's in the past . But that was totally improved in IMX400 on XZ Premium and XZs by reducing noise , bigger pixels , brighter photos , better stabilization , restructuring on camera's algorithm , etc. . And it then got better on XZ1 and XZ1 Compact was released as IMX400 Mk II was released . Not a major one and still a loss comparing to others , but they're already stepping up their games on camera and doing better by time . One of the Android Central's journalist said it so
Proof of the statement : https://www.androidcentral.com/sony-xperia-xz1-camera

2.) Sony's camera lens used to be plastic on Xperia Z5 family . But that's no longer the case of Xperia XZ and XZ Premium as both using glass lens since then . Zack or JerryRigEverything already have that proof on his XZ and XZ Premium's durability test :
Proof of the statement : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8NMCqjVoKHI (XZ) and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OkJQguSNekk (XZP)

So , please do more a research first before giving false statement on this website :)

Sharpness and clarity aside(f2.0 is visible even with their hw), processing is killing pictures when zoomed in. Maybe not as much as before, its on level of majority of competition, but when I compare it with mine 950xl shots in which there is almost no noise in good light, its bad. Even now remember microsoft mentioning(when it was released) how its free of digital noise. Its still better than the rest of competition(maybe not pixel2/u11+) because rest also went down in resolution and when you compare same details - even with noise, its more visible in low res shots.
Also if its word about video recording, wonder whats best for fireworks shooting - mono or 3D stereo :) . Sony may be saved by offering earphones with mics for binaural recording, but its yet to hit my eyes on tube. Also feel free to compare any lumia with haac to other phone even now. You won't worry about sharpness then, for me its the most important in video recording, I mean, even bad 4K can be greater than FHD, if audio is enjoyable...

Did anybody notice that iPhone X only records in mono sound quality?

I tell you what, put an OIS on Xperias and they can easily be the leader of smartphone photography, both photo and video.
Their processing is already matured, but the lack of stabilization is holding it back to look like it's bad even when it's not.

Next year, when Sony finally adds OIS to their camera, you'll see the true power of Sony's imaging software.

-. -, 30 Dec 2017Answer is simple, because htc is pulling sony, Means that ... moreI get it for HTC, but Sony? Are you seriously kidding me?
They may be not that popular, but sure they do sell quite well if not really record-breaking.
Sony is a reputable brand known for high quality products that are built to last.
I could certainly prove that to you by showing you my Auntie's nearly 5-year old Xperia C3.

Every single damn country has different pricing on all products that are imported to them. It depends on the amount of tax that were put in that product. It's not just HTC and Sony that are doing this.

I can't say anything about physical customer service because I haven't tried either of them, but one thing I could say is that I don't think one will actually need a customer service for Sony and HTC and only for one reason; they build high quality products that can last a lifetime.

Means that lack of marketing, regional pricing(some country is higher than other), bad past record, lack physical costomer service or at least a decent one
Yup basically doing what sony of guilty at
