Happy to see Mi A1 in top 10 list.. Mi A1 one of the best value for money mobile

I just don't understand why humanity does not pay attention to HTC? They have fluid, fast and streamlined software. The hardware is top notch design, and android updates are mostly at HTC first. Just look u11 life, a midrange with Oreo, not something you see everyday. LG is constantly having problems with their phones, Samsung has lag-causing software and tries to become independent from Google. IPhone is...yeah, iPhone. Always trying to milk you from separate purchase fast charging to slowing down your old device. X stands for what you all know. OnePlus is fast as a flagship but everything else is mediocre... I do not even want to start complaining about Nokia.
I always prefer a HTC to recent Samsung, iPhone or LG.
Sony? Never enter my radar, sorry.

I do kind of think Sony can actually record videos the best.
I mean, other than the lack of proper manual controls and OIS (they're likely to bring it on the 2018 Xperia flagships), everything else is pretty much perfect.

It isn't super sharp, but that has to do with the fact that it wasn't processed too much at all. It takes natural-looking videos and that long-reigning supreme SteadyShot EIS remains unmatched.

Huge shoutout to the V30 for awesome manual video controls and Pixel 2/2 XL for excellent combination of EIS and OIS for videos, as well as its superb dynamic range (probably the best I've seen from a smartphone).

And I do agree, the Note 8 is the best all-around smartphone this year. It may not really be the best at everything, but it can do them really well. It doesn't really do something horribly bad, except speakers maybe, but the headphone jack alone is enough.

I, once again, am jealous of Apple's A11 Bionic SoC that can do 4K 60fps. Apple's video quality is pretty good, but something spectacular that I could really say is on par with the high end Androids in the list. Stabilization is amazing, better than most in the list (except Sony and Google, both of which are probably the best in that respect) and quality is nice (not so-processed, but not really too much detail in there, but still it looks natural).

They may have recorded high Kbps audio but it's useless if the main microphone itself isn't.

Anonymous, 29 Dec 2017Best brand flagship top 10 best video recording should be t... moreThat's probably because others are performing much worse than the chosen bunch. If it was still photography I would give them a go because hardware and algorithms for post processing are widely available but video is whole another beast, especially in motion. I think GSM-A did a good job by handpicking those that matter.

If you watch the sample videos you can see even on great sunny day there is a night and day difference in quality between devices listed up to Note 8 and devices listed below Note 8. There is like a cut off line and U11 and Mate 10 Pro are just under that line together with everything else below them.

About the shutter speed in video, it's not it a thing that general people will ise often, but for those who does, thay can achive something like long exposure video(kinda like long exposure still, but the subject is moving while leaving say... Like trail) or smoothen up video(cranking the shutter and iso)
