KamAbdi, 28 Dec 2017I agree with you with what you said but looking at kinda of... moreIt will Sound strange to you because that is the only argument to defend your phone compared to an iPhone, but iOS is actually heavier, believe it or not. iOS became heavier and more feature loaded over the years. Android actually became lighter (keyword: project svelte). Since more than a year, a stock android ROM is lighter than iOS, and the difference is becoming bigger every year. The iPhone 5s and 6, some of the most powerful and glorious phones of past years, started to struggle with iOS 10, and it got even worse with iOS 11 (I‘m NOT referring to the slow down of old batteries, but the OS in general). If those phone ran an AOSP, they would be blazing fast, while with iOS 11, they have a hard time to keep up. Even the iPhone 5 would crush through Android 8.0 AOSP, and the iPhone 4 was not unusable today if it used stock Android.

Kiyasuriin, 28 Dec 2017You're... Kidding right? Cache is one of THE most importan... moreYou won't feel any difference between 1 MB of L2 cache & 3 MB of it as it will translate only in modest 5~6% gain & significant cost. However when you multiple the 2x more L2 cache and exclusive access per core to it (not as before shared between two core's) that is 2x2 which is 10% more performance & mantra ARM applied with new cortex A series (A75, A55). From architectural standpoint their is much more than can be done regarding memory subsystems on ARM architecture.

Praise the lord, SD 630 successor finally gets A7 line cores. SD 460 is still bs Tho.

Kiyasuriin, 28 Dec 2017It's true that the Android is heavier OS than iOS. but have... moreWell Apple core's are 2x bigger because they are 2x wider institutions per clock design which also makes them almost 2x faster. QC still have a wider & more advanced cores but not in the smartphone SoC's but server one's. On the other hand Apple design is based on older A73's & without DinamiQ so the performance core's on S845 should be only 25% slower (as A75 is same as A73 but 3 instructions per clock vs 2) & DinamiQ should utilise them better.

it's like you have a car with a very powerful engine but your drive it with the parking break.

What's the point if we're all gonna end up with the 625 in 90% of mid-range phones again? Not even the 630 is widely adopted now, not to mention 660.

AnonD-664474, 28 Dec 2017Some Android manufacturer should buy Apple's A11 Bionic SoC... moreit's not about power. it's about the software optimization.
you can see phones with 6 GB ram and it can barely beat an Iphone 6 as speed. why? because it has a poor ram management and almost zero app optimization.
so, not the processor power is the issue. :)

Luxor, 28 Dec 2017Kryos is the one we usually see on flagship chipset. To be specific, kryo is the name of there "custom" cores, although they're modded version of the original (cortex) A75 and A55

Its nice and all they releasing this. But the 660 not even widely available yet. The market flooded with 425/435 & 625 devices. Sure, battery efficient but not performing well at all. We all can agree not everyone liking the way qualcomm is progressing thing. It is about time our midranger become as powerful as flagships from 2 to 3 years ago.

What's the difference between kryo and cortex cores? The 450 has 8 cortex A53 all clocked at 1.8 ghz. The new 460 has 8 kryos - 4 at 1.4 and 4 at 1.8. On the face of it isn't the 450 more powerful because of the clock speed?

Odd that the 450, 630 and 660 are barely out and barely featured in phones and their successors are announced. I expected the 450, 630 and 660 to be used a whole lot more than they are - we barely know what these have to offer.

Anonymous, 28 Dec 2017What difference will make the system cacheYou're... Kidding right?
Cache is one of THE most important parts inside the CPU. (aside of the registers ofcourse)
it allows you to store commands for the registers to execute. the larger the cache. the more data and commands it can store. so while gaming with a 3MB cache phone compared to 1MB (assuming all other specs are the same.) you'll notice that the phone reacts faster due to the fact the CPU takes less time to take data from the RAM compared to the 1MB cache phone.
this is why it's important to have a high Cache SoC. (and the reason crapple went all out with a whopping 8MB cache for it's A11!)

I believe 460 must be on pair with 630.
640 same level of 653.
670 almost like 820
