AnonD-102477, 29 Dec 2017Of course, because we don’t get the updates lolHTC : At least their flagships are mostly up-to-date and sometimes fates better (ex 1 : HTC U11 , U11 Life now on Android 8.0 Oreo par with U11+ , HTC 10 and U Ultra next inline) (etc 2 : HTC One M9 was updated to Nougat despite only 7.0 , was better than G4 USA and OnePlus 2) . For their midrangers outside U11 Life , i do quite doubt it ......
Motorola : Since 2016 , Moto hasn't been fast on update as Lenovo takeover Moto since then . Although their current-flagships and super-mid-rangers are getting it fast (Z2 Force already on 8.0 Oreo with X4 both models) , their true mid-rangers wait much longer sometimes could be in doubts and nightmares like Nougat update to X PE (ex : G4 Plus , G5S , etc.) .

Apple should add an option to slow down cpu somewhere under settings this way those who want it can enable it and those who dont wont and it can be usefull when your battery is low and wont mind a laggy device if gets through atleast a few hours

It's the only factor that really makes a difference in this case. Or if you want to prove your idea, make some scene which you can photograph later in exactly the same lighting conditions, take some photos, then revert your phone to the first OS version you had on phone, take identical photos and compare them. Or even better, upload them and share with us.

nkwama, 29 Dec 2017Some Android phones will follow this trend. Indeed Android mobiles do imitate bad practices of Apple such as sealed battery, removing headphone jack, non-expandable storage are few of them!
But Android mobiles did have a throttling settings when battery level goes below certain percentage which users can control.
Google Pixel phones are bit shamelessly imitating Apple though they do not provide similar services and support like Apple

Actually they did something worse. By being (both) of the first to seal the batteries in the android world they made sure that people would have severe issues after a certain amount of battery cycles.
If anything I would prefer if they were to apply throttling, the phone would be slightly slower yet the battery life would had been much better in the long run.
If there is anything great with the recent events is/was the basic admission that sealed batteries actually hurt the customer one way or another. Now if only there was a customer led "revolt" to reinstate removable batteries and thus ownership of our devices it would be even better. Else it is a "half revolt", funny thing js that it didn't even came with the masses, they are continuously offered less and less for higher and higher prices, yet not a peep from them, it was all the reviewers + geekbench guys that opened rhis case wide open.
