RE-READ THE ARTICLE!!!!
Everyone really needs to read the article again. It doesn't say that the A5 chip HAS BEEN PROVEN to overheat or that APPLE HAS CONFIRMED that it overheats. You'll see words like "might" and "theory" and "gossip" and "rumor".... and the classic "our sources tell us" scenario.
People that read this fell into one of 3 camps:
1 - Reasonable people that realize this is only a rumor and if it is true - good for Apple for identifying it and not releasing a product until they can iron out this dilemma.
2 - Android fanboys that missed the words theory and gossip and automatically turned it into fact and went flaming mad with insults as if this alone will destroy apple.
3 - Apple fans that are defending the iPhone and Apple.
Its a shame that everyone can't fit into the first camp and just accept that this is a rumor, not a proven fact or anything admitted by Apple. Many devices get hot, some make it to the public still with horrible heat problems. Many of them when charging get very hot as well. I've had several phones that got very hot when plugged in to charge. Conversely have an iPad that does not get hot at all when charging. And while using it its always relatively cool. Laptops get very hot too! I would guess they probably get much hotter than almost any cell phone out there (even the supposed problem with the A5).
Overheating isn't the end of the world. If its true - Apple is obviously working on it since it hasn't been released yet. If its not... then at least this gave the Android fans another chance to bash Apple for no good reason.

Anonymous, 17 Jul 2011Samsung would have supplied them with CPUs like for iphone ... moreIf Samsung would stop filling Apples orders for parts that would be a breach of contract. Add that to Samsung being sued by EVERYONE for patent infringement since they can't come up with anything new on their own and just got where they are today by riding in on everyone else's coattails. Lol.

Samsung is not a designer of CPU (which is inside Apple's A4 and A5 SoCs).

Ipwn lovers or ifanbois cant digest the fact that thier ipwns dont have open platform inviting modders and developers to contribute and manufacturers to enhance the hardware specs
Just imagine, Iphone only sells for it OS on an outdated hardware, if apple made thier os open no one will buy thier hardware, cos they will use technically advanced hardware from samsung htc or others,

AnonD-7168, 17 Jul 2011it's disappointing to see that gsmarena is filling up with ... moreI just realised how little you know about android phones.Lt me tell you a few things about android
1. VARIETY!!!!!!!! i can choose to use a motorola SE htc sumsung etc but i am not limited to one device that reminds me of rule in north korea.
2. why do i have to buy most of the stuff when its free on android.
3. you talk about jailbraiking on iphone to do stuff. You can also root your android to any software you want.
4. Please do not ever compare the slow, heavy iphone to sumsung galaxy s2. please. i beg you. Two different classes.

it's disappointing to see that gsmarena is filling up with dumb android users n intelligent n technically advanced people don't comment here. I think android users live with this misconception that android does everything that iOS does yet android costs half as much as iphone.
can't you people realize what's happening? samsung is releasing about 50 smartphones per year n android is upgrading at the same rate. The people who like to stay up to date with the tech are often being forced to change their phones for keeping up with the pace.
Samsung or SE or Motorola releases a phone n then forget about it n work on another device. Google is releasing new versions of android after every 6 months. What is happening to a random consumer? he's buying the latest phone with lots of money only to find out that he'll have to get a new phone after 6 months because it's getting 'old'.
How many droid manufacturers provide upgrades of the next firmware in android? Even if they do, those upgrades are not available in every country. Then after switching to the latest version of android you realize that there is no no apps available because developers are too lazy to design same apps again n again for all the versions of android. Also the android appstore is a mess. You don't you know which app is for which version of android. One app for a specific version won't wont in another version. If you change or reset your device you need to buy your apps again from the appstore unlike apple appstore where you have to buy your apps only once and then you keep getting them again n again for free in any of your apple devices. now who's sucking your money?
Now let's look at the apps quality. Playing first person shooter in multiplayer with Call of Duty graphics is only possible in iOS. It doesn't even come in the dream of android users.
Now the question may come why iPhone is so expensive. I think most of the people who complain about iPhone has never actually touched one otherwise they would have understood why iphone is more expensive. It's because of the built quality of the product. The whole phone is made of scratch resistant glass with metal strips (antennae) around the corner. I think we all know the built quality of samsung. Cheap plastic. HTC androids have a better built quality but for that they also cost a lot sometimes more than iPhone. Better material means more expensive. Simple.
A person who has bought an iPhone 3GS in june 2009 can run and get all the benefits of iOS 5 which came in June 2011. He doesn't really need to change his phone to stay up to date but an samsung galaxy S user who has bought it just last year is already feeling outdated because it came with android eclair, n can be upgraded to gingerbread to the max. but right now honeycomb is out in the market n icecream is coming soon. Now who's actually wasting his money?
Google brainwashed people into thinking android is for tech people where in reality most of the tech experts you find on youtube is an apple user. If you want customization just jailbreak your iPhone n then your device is ready to do miracles.
