Keep feeding your sammy with your money they will really apreciate it.
Look where it goes.
A8 and A8+ cost as much or even more than a flagship despite is just average midranger.
For that there is no cure for theses companies too.
Some people never learn from their mistakes and soon noone will buy their phone because where prices of phones fro companies like Samsung or Apple will increase their selling rate will decrease.
Chin ese brand will do oposite. In few years they will conquer whole market.
Like now electrical cars going to dominate over gas, petrol and diesel cars.

NichtsGemacht, 06 Jan 2018So what you are saying is that the "greatest upgrade ever" ... moreWell, looking to the outside of a phone alone is an obvious mistake.

Most changes on iphone X happened "under the hood"

Twice as fast SoC, 50% more memory, 50% more battery, twice the amount of pixels, passive biometrics, oh yeah, it has a notch too, but it is its most banal feature, I don't even know why is everyone fixating to it. Are tech site overrun by fashion aware people? I mean why, we're not going to change the world by looking fashionable, I guess it helps but it is secondary or tertiary...

I mean lets be honest big screens are not a new thing they have been around for quite a while if it wasn't for the "Notch" the X would look like any other 2017 phone. so yeah it was a huge move for the iphone design but only when you compare to older iphones.

Sure, if you can't appreciate the difference between a top quality display and a mid range there's obviously no reason for it. If you can't appreciate a manufacturer for creating a more complete ecosystem then there's obviously no reason to get a better device.

Stop trying to apply your apathetic needs on mobile to me or anyone else, please. :)

My Moto X4 is but all you chosen working just with maybe your phone and thats it.
Not even apple supports your Gear VR also Sony have their own which wont work with any other brand.
And display quality is good enough
Maybe you dont know but on a 5 inch screen human eye cant spot a differences between 4k and full HD.
Also 4k is much more powerhungry when you set to 4k your battery dies in maybe 40 mins. For that i really dont need or want a 4k screen. Beccause it means charging often which means your battery crap maybe in 3 months.
          Anything else my friend?
Not every chinese phone is garbage and GSM site put Mi6 at a 6th place among all mobile phones of 2017 which is good enough.
But if we compare price to specs its 2 in rank only to leave the throne for a Oneplus 5T.

It literally changed *everything* about what means to "be" an iphone. From looks to internals, to even how you do things.

Previous iphones used to be similar to each other *but* their internals were being continuously upgraded.

Compare it to S8 , basically no internal upgrades, just a taller screen. Why not name it S7T or something? It's clearly not a new generation of product, merely Samsung defrauding people (not too many hopefully given how lowly it sold by Samsung's standards).

Samsung is a strong brand. I expect the new Galaxy S9 series to sell well. But I think they will feel the competition from the Chinese alternatives Huawei/Honor, Oppo, Vivo and OnePlus.
Also I think 2018 will be the year for a full comeback for Nokia (HMD Global) especially in Asia and Europe.
So it will be interesting to see if Samsung reach their goals.

If anything apple has used us to relatively small upgrades.

This gen the roles are almost completely reversed: samsung with the smallest upgrade possible, even smaller than between iphone 5s and iphone 6 and Apple with the greatest upgrade ever, even bigger than between s3 and s4.

And it's not as if previous iphones were slouches. Displaymate had them with the best lcd and benchmarks with the best soc for *years*. Well their jump was on top of *that*.

The screen went to (almost) fullscreen amoled and better callibrated than Samsung's very own (dispalymate's review), the camera made a similar jump and the soc almost doubled in multicore performance , despite iphone 7's already being near the top or just around there, despite the rest having an off year.

Those are choices. Apple charges you a fortune but gives you the latest and greatest. Samsung does too, but a bunch if chinese no names surpass you in a number of key specs/uses. Heck even underscreen fingerprint seems ro be coming by chinese first.

Is S8 expected to sell quite less than S7 because of Note 7?

The Note 7 debacle only made things worse, Samsung has obviously de-invested from flagships (which btw is also why the Note 7 debacle happened in the first place, low quality control compared to other years).

S8 is just a design upgrade, keeping up with modern trends. Yeah, it was not a huge upgrade but let's be honest there is not much thing they could have improved. Innovation in the whole mobile industry has slowed down lately. Only 3 things that people want now from them-

                                        1. Bigger battery
                                        2. Stereo speaker
                                        3. Improved software experience

Hope they improve these things in S9.
