Other people buy phones because of their looks, disregarding the price. They jsut want the newest thing and dont even care if it's slower than the previous year flagships.
These people are poluting the smartphone era.
Me i went for a oneplus 5T, because it's one of the fastest and price wise, it's an excellent bargain.

Don't just spout nonsense without doing proper research and Samsung's A series phones can very well be considered high end, *ahem* well at least for the price point. Also it was also written in the article -
"Looking ahead to the second quarter, the company expects to achieve growth on the back of continued robust memory performance together with improved earnings from the mobile business following the global rollout of the Galaxy S8 and S8+."

E, 03 Jan 2018That's not true in the slightest. S7 and s8 are totally differentAs in S8 being taller than S7? Because I swear in everything else S8 is the same or even a step back. By far the smallest upgrade in the history of Samsung flagships. I don't see what people see in it, they probably don't know how to read specsheets

      Same Soc basically (8890 -> 8895)
      Same RAM amount (4GB)
      *Less* battery (3500 to 3000)
Taller Screen yet same pixel density/tech (~550 PPI give or take)
Same back camera in quality (give or take)
      Better selfie cam
      *Worse* fingerprint placement.
Taller screen (which is an acquired taste)

Remind me again how S8 is actually a new phone and not a variant of S7?

All I saw was Sasmung cutting costs and you fell for it!

Using cghinese phoes for half the money and they are much better quality than apple or samsung ever was. At least they dont lie to customers.
        Keep your overpriced S7.
OP3 is equal the same quality as your S7 and cost 50% less brand new.
My moto X4 does the same tricks as your phone and brand new cost 390 eur.

I wrote Samsung *flagships* don't do well. i.e. she's not the industry leader that she used to be. She mostly sells mid and low end phones these days.

For example Q1 2017 (which is a trend that started in 2015): https://news.samsung.com/global/samsung-electronics-announces-first-quarter-results-3

Sent from my two year old Galaxy S7. NOTCH a sign of throttling on this baby.
NOTCH a stupid display design, either.

All those other old phones that you mentioned were low end except for Neo. Why do you insist on proving that Samsung is not doing well when there is stats that show otherwise? Take a look for yourself -

For what sake they make 320 million of phones if maybe 40-50% will be sold global.
                Waste of money and envinronment.
But as usualy Shamesung people never understand what is and how to use a brain.

If you add their flagship sales to A series, you will get similar numbers like in the past. Right now if Samsung hits 40 million marks for S series, it could be considered successful.
From what i know, they have sold a fair share of S8 duo already. So yeah IMO they are doing pretty good.

Funny that they show a flagship's image (the very phones that sell all time low for Samsung).

"is unlikely to focus on increasing shipments in the coming years, strengthening profitability "

Pretty much Samsung's deal for the last years or so.

Same specs, 30% pricier than last years. There is a reason why they sell so few flagships (S8 is a pricier S7 basically: better at some things, worse at others but pretty much on par)

Brad, 03 Jan 2018Ship or Sold? Good question.
