wearables aren't dead, but they're certainly nothing of significance. In fact, most people who wear smart watches, just look unprofessional and immature. There's no way a crappy $200 smart watch looks better than a professional elegant watch. Not to mention the pain of having to recharge everyday.

Such a long article for irrelevant topic. I am impressed but is wearable market it's just another gimmick which will die soon?? How many fitness fanatics will buy those things? And to be honest smartwatches is useless as it can be with one day battery life and can't offer anything else as smartphone so why you have to carry both and worry to charge two devices???? Completely mystery to me, the only reason I can see smart wearable is VR and AR.

Gartner group!!
They where the ones that "saw the future" for MS WinPhone in 2011, that in 2015 MS Winphone would have 20% of the mobile market.

Luxor, 07 Jan 2018Wearable is not kicking off very well from my perspective. ... more1) AR is mostly useless (VR is the future)
2) Smartwatches are almost completely useless (phones already do those things better)
Those are known since -like- 2013, I don't know why some are still trying.

They will never be popular thanks to the price. Most of these sell higher than a decent smartphone!

Waiting for smartwatch which does its primary function of displaying time properly(always on display), a great battery life at a decent price. Pebble was a good attempt at it. Sadly it died as Fitbit acquired it.

Wearables are nice, and they serve their purpose, just even tho I would like to have one, I simply don't need it. And most of the people doesn't really need them. Combine that with their insane prices, and I can see why they could die out pretty fast.

Just be aware of of wearables like Fitbit have Bluetooth emitting all the time and can't be turned off - would love to see GSMArena review and cover each wearable devices idle and syncing bluetooth emission levels as it is a concern. See

Fitbit is ugly as my life and expensive. Samsung too proprietary. Apple Watches are great but work just paired to iPhones. Huawei is good but 2100 snapdragons are crap. Other Android watches are ugly or too huge. AR is useless due to tiny field of view. That's why wearables are still disappinting.
