What is the point for having a 1GHz processor with 512MB RAM in a S40 platform? Are there any hardware intensive software in S40 platform to utilize this? I don't think so.

haven't u seen n9?? From what cave did u came from?

I didnt say anything abt single cores being superior for multitasking than anything else.

Single cores are good enough when paired with good software.
Take optimus black and nokia n9 for example.

      Take your fanboyism somwer else..

Take a look at this guys!

Check out the link below and cue in the Samsung fanboys who will deny that Samsung copied the idea from Apple. This cover clone is being sold in Samsung stores in Korea. While it wasn't made by Samsung, it was made by an accessory maker that's related to Samsung.

I laugh when I see the clueless android fanboys commenting in NOKIA threads. S40 is a full blown Operating System, just like IOS, Android, Blackberry OS, WebOS, and Symbian. It also supports "touch and type" features that can be incorporated into JAVA applications developed specifically for the S40 platform, so upping the ante and adding a better processor with more RAM makes perfect sense, particularly when you think in terms of the potential reach available to software developers - we're talking 100's of millions of users here.

I hate NOKIA for being a douchebag...

let's face it, Android conquers the Mobile world
                    why not accept the fact?

Symbian is really way way behind! UI wise, Apps wise and Trend wise
                    Android wins.... :(

too bad Nokia can't give up Symbian contract... are they stuck for a century with Symbian?...

So now people can laugh that their 1GHz, 512MB dumb phone is better than the iphone4. Or do specs suddenly not matter when you're behind?

Just because a lot of people are using it doesn't mean its better. Just comes on cheaper phones and they have cool commercials. Just proves that marketing can even make buggy crashing Android look good. Bleh! Sorry... I'll stick with Symbian 3. At least it doesn't crash.

They're probably doing this just because its the 'new trend' to have a gazilion cores and the highest processor clocks. I really doubt the fact that s40 can use this hardware to even 50% of its potential. Nice try, Nokia, but i think this is a bad move -> expensive dumbphones. I'm really sorry for nokia's downfall, i always used nokias (still have an E5, i'm selling it, major software issues); i hope they will evolve and become competitive with WP7 running phones.

This is like suicide. I think it's a good phone, but how many are gonna buy it? It's good, but there are better phones out there. Someone is really trying to push Symbian off the cliff. :(

WP7 has more native apps that comes with the phone like excel, office, etc. Also, It has a better web browsing experience. Chiefly, Stephen Elop is a Microsoft guy, he wants to kill Symbian and MeeGo.

Nokia should stick with Symbian for Business phones, WP7 for multimedia phones, S40 as a generic branch.
They also should assign C-series for the S40 phones... W-series, or any new pick for the windows phone 7 phones... the rest should be good for the different kinds of Symbian phones, despite of being Business phones, they may be different in some specific features.
                                      Cheers
