Great Step of Sony!

+ A bit thicker for larger battery
+ Fingerprint reader for mid-range
+ Android Oreo
+ Smaller bezzels
+ SD 630

- bigger screen (I prefer 4.5-5")

It has metallic back . Not plastic.
    https://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/products/phones/xperia-xa2-ultra/

The durable Corning® Gorilla® Glass display and metallic back panel create a design that’s both durable and easy on the eye.

So, they still not change the design... Okay then, hope they'll change the design on the new xperia x models.

303tk4, 08 Jan 2018XA2 Ultra sounds almost perfect for super-mid ranger. It s... moreExcept the fact it will rather cost more like entry level flagship, which negates the propose of ultra mediocre mid-rangers. People who are after mid-range are often more concerned about the cost rather than device (and I tend to believe they are buying device for somebody else e.g. parents for a child or company for employees). In which case there is no way to match Samsung J7 or upcoming A8s... In other words Sony missed the point yet again..

                no more STEREO speakers !

Sony will go bankrupt way like HTC !!

Another player which was recognized by STEREO speakers go to MONO.

Google Pixel 2 / XL and Razor Phone remain with STEREO front speakers. That is just sad.

Sony XA2 is the most good looking midranger device, definitely will buy one

Hater Will hate always but STB on XA2 is bigger than Nokia 6 2018
                    75-77 matches to Huawei flagships

Finger print sensor on the back?!?! Why Sony has to do this? Aren't Sony able to fit the sensor at the side (power on /off button)? Now these model sensor at the back makes no difference with any other phone brand..together with the center camera ....Most ugliest design of Sony Xperia so far !

Lol. Watch these things fail miserably in battery life. It seems to be an xperia staple these days. And bigger lol at all the airheads bragging about the "best fingerprint scanner placement". The only thing sony has going for them is oreo. But that doesn't do squat to raise the quality of the overall user experience. I don't need the latest os when the phone needs life support every 15 hours. That's just pathetic.

Although beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder, yet these phones are ugly af. The XA and the XA1 series were far more beautiful than these. I wonder what Sony thought when finalising the design..

                                Large batteries
Android Oreo out of the box (Galaxy Note 8 doesn't even have it yet officially, LOL!!!)
                                Great SD630 SoC
                                Flagship level cameras
US-enabled rear fingerprint scanners (wow, even the L2 now has it while Samsung's Galaxy J2 2018 will probably skip it)
Simple but unique design (bezel size doesn't matter for me, so quit b*tch*ng with me about it, because large or not, I use the phone the way it's supposed to be with no problem)

About $300 for the XA2 and $400 for XA2 Ultra, and $200 for L2, and these are my new favorite mid rangers.
Come on, this is Sony. They give a huge thought for every single product they produce. They make these products with their mindsets saying that everyone of them should be world class in quality that will serve the people for a very long time.
Most other OEMs only make high quality products with flagships, lower ends are not well-thought out. Others make low end phones just for the sake of doing it, without treating it like a special product.
