Works Perfectly well with S8 Oreo beta (SD 835). I compared it with Pixel XL quality and it was exactly the same or even better in some scenarios. Chipset has a role to play here i guess.

U must compare the pics taken with ported Pixel camera on the S8 & the ones taken with the stick s8 camera!
The ported camera takes more natural & better photos than stock s8 camera although a little noisier.

Best way to achieve natural bokkeh is by using an SLR Camera with an f 1.4 lens :)

The App is only for S8+?

Thanks GSMArena. I've been waiting for this comparison. I'm using Moto X4 and I was impressed by the photo quality using the ported apk. Way way better than the stock moto camera app.

everyone can get portrait mode in all most new phones using the new google camera, it's ported and enjoy without spend so much money on a flagship

There are more instances when I have to get everybody in the shot but couldn't move back further. Wide angle is always there to the rescue.
If we're just talking about zoom lenses, why would I bother with 2x secondary camera when I could just buy a smartphone lens adapter that offers even more zoom level at a very cheap price?

With wide angle cameras, just one tap and you get everything in the shot, very clear, no hassle at all.
Sure, there is distortion, but it has been proven that software processing could fix it.

I've own the Pixel XL OG and used to own a Pixel 2 XL briefly after selling it due to bad display.

The Pixel OG camera was outstanding, low light video not so much , everything else great.

Pixel 2 was an improvement, however I feel they should have put in a extra camera for lossless zoom if not for the portait mode, would be much more versatile.

Google had success in the Pixel OG and IMO, the pixel 2 being only their second phone they played it safe by going for tried and tested. For Gen 3 Pixel if there isn't a dual lense I don't imagine much people buying it when there's iPhones, Huawei, Samsung about.

AlexG, 14 Jan 2018I'm Pixel 2 owner and I tell you this the best camera. If t... moreAgain....If that quality can be achieved with one then why cant better things be done with two?
And the problem with increasing the cost therefor is false.
I dont need two myself either. Im more than ok with one better one rather than cost going to multiple lower priced ones.

The issue here is that despite some nice software that squeezes a tad extra out of it the cost ratio into the single one is already way below par.
The phone is dramatically over priced and the sensor is actually reduced in size from the previous generation.

So you are getting ripped off either way. If you like the quality so much already then imagine if they had actually charged a fair or normal price for the device like everyone else.
Or at the very least didnt downgrade the sensor let alone use the extra profits to slightly upgrade it. Along with the ram.

People can deny it all they want, but google went all apple with the pixel.
