Those who want portrait effect on old phones just capture a normal picture and edit it its quite simple and not take more than 3mins but so far the best portrait mode is on huawei via wide aperture IMO its just great you can adjust blur and refocus even after picture has been saved

That app is very bad.
I tried it wid my exynos s8 plus and it doesnt take good pictures at all....
I am talking about the post processing

Small advice for users who got cheap ( :) ) not 999€$ priced device, but also for those who bought it and its mode is useless or those who want new phone just for "Portrait Mode". Try taking selfie while you move/rotate yourself holding phone tightly. Everyone got Portrait mode... and it blurs nicely, the older the better.

If the quality can be achieved with one camera, then I don't see any use in second camera... It will just increase the cost and ruin design of a phone, especially if it's a small phone.

I haven't even once bothered using the bokeh effect on my Note 8. I use the telephoto lens for lossless zooming while recording videos or taking photos of a distant subject, and that's the main advantage of having two cameras. Much wider angles can easily be imitated with panorama software, so, not missing out on anything compared to having an even wider angle lens as the secondary lens...

I don't see why Pixel lovers keep saying "Oh, we don't need stupid dual camera setups as the 2017 Pixel phones have proved!"....there's NO advantage of having only one sensor over two, however the same can't be said for the opposite argument (optical zoom, dedicated wide-angle, proper b/w shots, etc.)

Nobody really needs two cameras to give off awesome bokeh effects.
I think the best solution for artificial bokeh is by using Laser AF because it literally calculates the right distance from the subject.
With secondary lens, you're basically stuck on its limit distance (56mm or whatever) but with Laser AF, you can accurately determine the distance to the subject.

Just google making the pixel 2...especially tge xl the most over priced android....or basically the iphone of android

It can be done by software.
Sony has cam app Background Defocus, even L1 and E5 can use.
But it has only 8MP option.

Since the upcoming Snapdragon 845 can support background blur without a secondary lense, I think it's safe to assume that the next Pixel will have 'only' one lense, just like the Galaxy S9. Although it's not perfect as having a secondary lense, it would definitely free up some space for some critical component.
