Out of all the underdogs, no doubt Sony emerges on top.
XZ Premium was the only phone that destroyed the iPhone X completely in speed test. Note 8 took a hard time to do it, and even needed extra 2GB RAM just to be 0.5sec faster.
And the HDR screen on the XZ Premium makes OLED look like an inferior technology.
Just watch this video and notice how reds look punchier and sometimes more realistic on the XZ Premium than on the Note 8.

Its at least good thing they realized it this year and put the FPS on back rather than on power button.

[deleted post]They already stated it last year with their Food Marketing Director of Europe. They said they won't quit smartphone market at all, as they put a lot of efforts of innovation inside their phone that haven't been see in other OEM such as : Predictive Capture, 3D Creator, 960fps super slow-mo, 4K HDR10 display, keeping all necessary feature : 3.5mm jack, IP68/65 and stereo speakers without removing one of them, smart antenna line design (XZP has one), keeping smartphone cool without Copper Heat Pipes (they use graphite layer to solved it), etc. Yes, their price is high. But judging with the latest iPhone (8,8+ and X) offering, they still below the iPhone mark.

I would still buy it though even if I am in the US because of the great features and built Sony has on their premium phones. And the good thing is I can enable fingerprint by fashing EU rom.

sony dont use stock ui, they use theirown custom ui which hasnt been improved since the kitkat era.
they only have very small r&d, thats why they cant afford to improve their ui every year.
now look at xiaomi, huawei, lg, and samsung. all of them also use custom uis. but they always improve their uis every year.
