Big Richard, 15 Jan 2018Nokia had wasted a few good years, led astray by Trojan Hor... moreTwo things First Microsoft took forever going from Windows 7 (single core none expandable) to Windows 8 (Dual Core expandable), virtually every major player had a Windows 7 phone.

No one except Nokia released a Windows 8 phone
Nokia joined Microsoft due to more secure than Android.

Second Windows 10 is essentially a malware posing as an OS
During testing it played havoc with all Windows 8 phone tested on
Imagine IOS 11 before release messing up iPhones

Instead of delaying W10 Microsoft released it as they wanted the Lumia 950 running Windows 10 out of the box
Windows 10 after 2 years still could not be fixed , Alcatel & HP released Phones running Windows 10 in a hope it could be fixed, it couldn't so Microsoft eventually pulled out of the phone market officially in 2017. Microsoft stopped selling ALL phone in early 2016, not because the hardware was bad, but W10 software, you're increasing complaints the more devices run the toxic W20

All Windows 8 phones still work perfectly, but no updates and no more apps are being developed

On the above HMD have released too many models, the Nokia 6 2018, matches the Nokia 7

I like the Nokia 8 as it is a premier phone snapdragon 835 but not flagship prices

First time I heard of dbrand, S line wave ir Wallet

Nokia phones don't need dbrand, they are better than that. Nokia phones made by HMD were good for the first year and will become better! And, did dbrand call their products trash?

Got some quotes saying HMD reacquired most of patents once sold and Nokia didn't sold the patents much from the first time. I didn't double checked the fact but maybe I was wrong. Sorry for disrupting the comments board!

Maybe they meant 'we decided not to develop products for Nokia phones so early samples are dumped' kinda thing...? U know, dbrand is US company (I think), how could they can't speak English properly and ended up saying themselves' products as trash? :thinking emoji:

Big Richard, 15 Jan 2018Nokia had wasted a few good years, led astray by Trojan Hor... moreFor none business use Microsoft products could probably be replaced, yet office suite is hard to get something that could do the advance stuff you could go with it.
For simple user like you, MS suit might seem replaceable. But for large companies, corporate world runs on Microsoft.
And for video calling and groups in a none business world. Skype beats anything out there in terms of quality and reliability. Might not be the most convenient but nothing gets the job done like Skype.
              Microsoft has way

Anonymous, 15 Jan 2018Well...yes you can read that mention as 'our product for No... moreThat second example makes no sense as it wasn't a general question, but a question aimed at dbrand. Dbrand genuinely just said their own product can be found in the trash.

Anonymous, 15 Jan 2018Know the fact. The company now selling Nokia brand smartpho... moreHMD actually reacquired nearly all the patents Microsoft got when they took over the Nokia Devices division, and source a lot of other patents from Nokia Technologies in return for royalties from their phone sales. Nokia Corporation remain one of the largest patent giants in the business to this day, and Nokia still have over 100 000 employees.

Foxconn handle the testing and manufacturing for HMD, like they do for Apple and Sony. That's it.

Nokia had wasted a few good years, led astray by Trojan Horse Elop and Microsoft. Windows phones were dead in a duopoly dominated by iOS and Android.

Microsoft has given up too, that's why it has ported its own apps e.g. Office to iOS and Android.

No one cares about Microsoft's ecosystem. Bing, OneDrive, Skype, Edge etc. Many better alternatives. On a smartphone, you can easily get by a day without touching a single Microsoft product.

Anonymous, 15 Jan 2018Yes Many employees in HMD int. are from former Nokia Phones... moreWelp they aoreasy made that possibility a reality i think, as they have used Nokia's OZO-sound recording features!
I reqlly think Nokia is gonna help HMD more by granting it access to more patterns..........
And ta the same time, you are right about your arguments, and this will never be the og Nokia, but if's as close as we can get to the og Nokia today..........

Nokia would've still dominated the market, if customers had a sense of privacy.
But today's customer says, give me all the latest services, just take my personal data, use it anyway you like, send it to NSA, who gives a damn!!

Nokia is the only company that made "Smartphones", others are just making "oversmart" phones.

As for dbrand, wait.... dbrand who? Heard their name for the very first time...

The company now selling Nokia brand smartpho... moreHardly much of patents were sold to MS , only design related Lumia patents were sold and Trademarks for Pureview, Asha, Lumia brand.. HMD has bought some of them from MS already .. like the camera app , asha brand rights

all the major tech related patents were never sold and Nokia still owns them

Raphi7, 15 Jan 2018It doe shave patents from Nokia though, and Nokia is trying... moreYes Many employees in HMD int. are from former Nokia Phones company, HMD int. is in Finland and working closely with Nokia(Main company), but that doesn't mean they have patents, right?
Outsourcing factories can't be same as their own factories. Nokia and HMD may have know-hows and techs to build rigid hardware, but outsourcing company? I dunno.
Yes ROMs of Nokia smartphones are made by HMD int.. I like their stock-ish design and see possibilities in the Camera/sound since they have rights to use 'Nokia and some other European Companies'-patented software techs but now, it's just 'possibilites', not good enough.

but also that mention can be read as 'skins for Nokia phones are in the dumpster behind the~' too,
and since dbrand has no product for Nokia phones so I think they intended to say in later way. Fookin English indeed.
