most of customer care don't know where they are landing , so don't think Samsung will update this old device and even as fast as s8 / s8+/ note 8 so no updates for it.

Every year the flagship always have this program. Btw, the full version always waits for the latest S series to release. If they release Oreo now, there wont be any surprise left for S9 to show during launch. It will be basically the same software.

Even though I think the s6 will get oreo at some point, customer care reps literally don't know a thing about upcoming updates half the time.

How about the S7 / S7 edge series? They even still don't give an Oreo update for S7 and now planning for S6. Give S7 / S7 edge an Oreo update first!

If this is true, then I am impressed for once with Samsung.
The only problem is that one cannot use this one case to judge how they will handle updates for their current and future flagships.

samsung should make their s series and note series customised android separate and give timely update. See note 8 and s8 have not got oreo 8.0 forget about 8.1 ...unless they give more attention to these phone (which they sell for high price for competing iPhone) and give timely update as pixel - then only they can compete with iphone.
only adding more ram and new octa processor - wont make their phone flashgrip. I am using Note 8 (updated from s8) - which is good but feels outdated in terms of software - because android has moved to 8.1 - but my phone is still on 7.1 (or 7.0). which is ridiculous. Next time on I wont spend money for them for sure.

Wow! If this is true, it would be amazing! I think it has something to do with all S6 versions having Exynos rather than Snapdragon.

Samsung is releasing premium mid-range A8 2018 with 7.1.1 instead of Oreo. A5/7 2017 is not even updated to 7.1.2 (stuck at 7.0).

No matter what, Samsung's UI has everything out of box in terms of features. Stock Android is light and good but ultimately means you are going to install a lot of apps for features and even that makes it unstable or slow at times. Rather have Samsung with some lag but in built features to be secure than a 3rd party app.

It's hilarious how people give updates more credit than needed. I mean, so your s6 may not get oreo. Does that magically make it unusable?
