But don't forget that Apple...has the same design for iPhone 6,7 an 8 and nobody said a damn thing...

and sony fans will say: this year Sony will catch up the game blah blah blah sony might get to the top and will replace Samsung or Huawei blah blah blah, tbh Sony cant catch up the game if they don't make big changes both hardware and marketing strategy. im with sony if software update is the subject.

“The reason we’re doing that is not because we think smartphones are the future, but because we have to have some devices connected to a network in order to communicate. If we get out of the [communications] space, we won’t have the opportunity to play in the next paradigm shift.
“It’s not about the smartphones of today; it’s more about looking beyond smartphones – at what are we going to be doing – and to be a player in this space; ideally to be a leader. For that strategic reason, I want to make sure we stay, not in the smartphone business, per se, but in the communications business.”

It is Sony that helps make other phones better.
Without Sony sensors, cameras on the iPhone X won't be as good as they are.
Without Sony, Android Oreo would not be a battery-friendly OS with awesome high quality BlueTooth connection.
Without Sony, our phones would not survive water tests.
Without Sony, we won't get nice glass construction phones.

LG V30 has far better features than the Note 8, yet it gets updated much earlier.
And what features are you talking about that makes the Note 8 any special? I would say most of their features are completely irrelevant. Those that are, have perfect alternatives from the Play Store.
I really find it funny when people defend Samsung's slow update cycle with lots of features, when in reality, most of the users don't even use 40% of them.

And usually Samsung has already had what that those updates have. Anyone who says its slow compared to other phones now or 5 years ago are just fanboys. And saying the extra features it offers are gimmicks means any feature your favorite has is a gimmick as well

Sony UI is beautiful because it has skin from theme, but only the Sony hater and trolls still live in cave pretending don't know.
Sony invent to side mounted fingerprint scanner while iPhone is late, Sony invent to use Motions-eye sensor and Qnovo charging technology and LDAC and more technology while every competitor have been late and behind Sony, even the iPhone also late behind and for recently the old battery policy makes the iPhone user pathetic.
