Nice xiaomi other manufacturers should learn a thing old devices wont be getting nougat but they are still getting its features

I'm redmi 3s user 2 days back xiaomi launched miui 9 for it and security patch is still of april 2017 and google play store is showing uncertified to us. xiaomi try to look good from outside but if you go deep you'll notice that ti doesn't communicate with their customers and don't even listen to their issues. Redmi 3s has some major issues since the phone is launched and those are still unfixed as of today even new miui 9. those issues include pathetic audio recroding quality, low fps stuttering video recording, phone has hard time keeping 3g and 4g connection and always drops to 2g, has lowest data speed compared to all phones, while moto gives you 1mb on jio redmi 3s only gives you 200 to 250kb.

Old Xiaomi devices may not get a new android version. But MIUI is more feature-rich compared to plain android.
I got my first MI with MIUI 7. Then MIUI 8 felt like a huge upgrade. Overall experience felt more upgraded than say, Nexus 4 getting lollipop update?!
MIUI, just like every other thing in the universe, has its disadvantages / flaws / bugs. With MIUI9 we got a lot of features which were 'missing' when compared to android 7.
Xiaomi at least gives security patches and small upgrades to their very old devices. And some of those devices were bought for less that $100 some 3-4 years back. And you say apple is so good coz they give timely updates? Well, you actually paid a lot for it.

But WHEN?! That is the question. It has been months since Nougat/MIUI 9 was launched and many many many smartphones even already got this. Like RN4. Why they included this already? And Mi Max 2 as well.
But anyway hats-off to Xiaomi for supporting and updating phones which are way way way old.

The recent flagships might get upto Oreo. The MiA1 will get one more version update after Oreo. And If we are really lucky, some of the best sellers that are still on Marshmallow (Note 3 Pro) might get Nougat.
Apart from maybe some security updates and some key features like split screen (native to Nougat), the older devices will get most of the benefits of MIUI 9 based on Nougat, even if the devices don't have Nougat.
MIUI is a lot more than just a heavy skin like Experience UI. If you can maintain your device properly, unlike most skinned Androids that slows down after 2-3 years of use, MIUI will run lag free, for longer (your phone will probably break down before it starts lagging, lol). Your battery life will diminish greatly tho - you'll need to get a new one after about 3 years.

Even if the Android version doesn't go up, it still shows that Xiaomi does care about their products. I mean, would you want your UI look ancient? And if they upgrade it to newer Android, it would lag more or they have to stick with Android Go.

It may be Miui 9 but the underlying Android is seldom updated, so they might still be on KitKat. It's just like using the latest version of a Launcher.

yeah... MIUI 9 but for older devices still with the old Android version. Same story as with MIUI 8 was last year. My Redmi 3s still on Android 6 and Redmi 3Pro on Android 5. Fake news...

Seriously-Hats Off to Xiaomi! Apart from how a user handles their smartphone, it is the continued S/W updates that keep the device relevant and a pleasure to use in the long term. The so-much-wanna-be top-tier smartphone manufacturers (looking at you, LG) need to learn how to build a fanbase by supporting the software from Xiaomi and the likes.

MIUI 9 is not necessarily based on Android Nougat, in fact most of the devices mentioned the update won't be based on it. (Xiaomi devices usually get only one Android version bump)

It's a really good strategy by Xiaomi to have their modified fork of Android (Samsung like UI loaded sans lag and Apple like simplicity) with all features rather than going for OS upgrades. But, I still would prefer them to do something about security updates as well for making a strong case to be the default choice for budget mid range supremo! But, I do appreciate how MIUI is. Good news for Xiaomi users though!
