Canțt you just connect the whole phone to that device, assuming the phone has all the pins outside linked to battery and you just don't use the phone for 5 - 10 minutes?

Same .. different day. News date back several years ago that Huawei has managed to invent a battery that charges up for 15 minutes to full and guess what - the next P and Mate will again have normal charging, fast not meaning 0 to full in minutes. Every month I read about how there is a tech to manufacture a attery that will last for 1000 charges at least and will charge in minutes even seconds and nothing is changng. I think companies do not have the interest to put this tech into mass production because they invested so much in current tech and dont want to spend the buck. The tech is here. Were waiting for sonething to change. For me two cameras or bezelless screen are not the revolution. Batteries are. My plan is not to buy another phone untill we see a revolution in battery for the masses

My ultimate phone has a removable battery, a great camera with OIS and 24 or 32 bit DAC stereo speakers. Huawei has the potential to build such a beast, if they dare. Waterproofing is nice, but I haven't needed it yet. Curved screens are actually a defect in my opinion.

            - sending phone for repairs, including battery change, and spout BS like we need to take a break from the digital world to justify losing your access to your phone.

-designing a phone such that amateur battery removal gives a high chance of breaking delicate parts like ribbons, display and flex cable as well as possible IP-rating loss. Wooo hoo suck it and buy special tools and man up so you can take your phone apart.

-Hiding behind optimizations of new cpu/gpu to justify pathetically small battery capacities

-putting hamburger menus on the upper part of the big screen phablets

-buying edgy screens and proceeding to cover it up with a case or accidentally dropping it and paying the amount equal to a used model of that broken phone to repair it

-exhibiting extreme stockholm syndrome by acting as brand ambassador and hurling insults at the old men screaming at the clouds by calling them luddites who are afraid of technology.

            I.
            Would.
            Not.

            You.

Wow, removable battery + fast charge? Why not?

Beats fast charging industrial glue-sealed batteries any time any where.

              Don't be a wall hugger. Or a brick-toting lemming.

I would love to see something like this hit the market but I rarely find myself in a situation where I need that much charge in such short time, with my iPhone X in the end of the day I have at least 20% (usually around 30%) and even without fast charging and even though I only need to charge once a day (during the night) it still charges decently fast.

Right now even though I love my Huawei Honor 8 Pro and its long lasting battery, charging it to full from empty still takes more than 2 hours with the dedicated fast charges provided by Huawei.

To be honest according to youtube video you can easily find and knowledge i bear a 12 year od girl back in 2012 developed a technology which could charge your battery from zero to 100% within 30 seconds.
Try to imagine what this tech should do in electric cars like Tesla.
                            Its awesome.

I'd choose removable battery with the phone having a emergency power reserve to keep it on while you swap the battery. that would eliminate the inconvenience of powering on/off for good.

AnonD-39937, 17 Jan 2018"48% in 5 minutes" yeah right...never believe a Chinese companyMan in 2012 a 12 yr old girl that time created and developed a charger whih can charge your phone within a 30 seconds.
Anything and everything is made in china so i dont know what you talking about.
But i wonder why after a 6 years of knowing this technology we must wait hour and half to fully charge our phones.
In case of apple severeal hours. Their batteries and chargers are expensive and really bad.

I think it is for demonstration purposes. Right now, they have to figure out how to fit in that fast charger circuit inside a phone. This reminds me of wireless mobile technologies. The wireless modems were the size of 12 inch square box but now, they are tiny and fit in 6mm square processors.

I have just found the missing half of the video. I only have a transcript unfortunately.

Yay! We can charge our phone with battery dock! What other innovations can we do? Let's solder the battery to the phone, haha! That will show people who repeatedly remove the back cover and battery of their device! Now they'll never use a Pandora's battery on our phone! Time to remove expandable storage! Oh wait, jsut for us who buy what we need right? Which is a sub $1000 phone without an SD card slot. That will show poor people I mean people with too much storage they'll just do bad stuff with it anyway! Time to make the phone impossible to open so we'll use glass and aluminium frame! That will keep the kids out(even though it deliberately looks and is fragile like real candy)! Hmm, there's a hole on here? Let's remove it; no one cares about sound anymore, and who uses headphones when people would rather watch viral videos out loud for everyone! Even more room for waterproofing, given we have the extra 2 minutes and extra 2 cents to put gasket! Time to make phones for long hands and alienate short people. Since I view what is popular online like everyone else, I want screen to be weirder proportionately and with exotic ratio so I feel more special watching videos with black bars and made longer to view on my screen but also squeezed. Time to remove part of the display and replace it with Gorilla Glass!

It wasn't made by Huawei, but rather every smartphone manufacturer in the world.
