So, Apple admitted their mistake and did the right thing by giving their users a choice to choose what they prefer.

Haters will still find a way to hate, but Apple did do right thing on this one. Despite the circumstances - they did the right thing.

mir, 18 Jan 2018And everybody's happy. Apart from the haters.True. Haters ruin everything.

Apple and Android need eachother because they push eachother to be better.
And we, the users of the phones benefit the most out of it.

      "User experience"

God knows how much shit they force on their customers excusing themselves with those two words.

It‘s normal that batteries age. And the iPhone X, which got almost the same dimensions as iPhone 7, already has a way bigger battery. If the X was available as a Plus with 6.4 inch, the battery would approach 4000 mAh

There is nothing bad about choice, and I think Apple should go this route, offering more choice in the settings app.

                      Hey guys you know what?
Nothing will really happens and changes despite they add some clickable option.
Whats worse maybe your whole phone freezes forewer like when you put 3 times wrong PIN code and them 10 times wrong PUK code and your simcard dies forewer.
Dont expect much from apple. They say everything to calm their customers but apart from words dont expect any solution.

So they will now make the aged phone with throttle off to live super short to make people still consider buying a new phone. Dirty played still

Why add the ability to turn on/off this feature? Everyone with an old, degraded battery will just keep this feature active in order to avoid unexpected shutdowns.

Everyone who experienced unexpected shutdowns will keep this feature active.

I've been an iPhone user ever since the iPhone 4s came out but I've gotta say this, Apple will pay for this in about 3 years time from now when their customers resort to Samsung S series or Note series... Then it'll be too late for them to turn back... we can't have part 2 of BlackBerry battery problems, this ain't 2010...Most people are buying iPhone's because of word of mouth now if their reputation is going to be destroyed I just wonder

All these won't be an issue if they just put a bigger battery on that thing from day 1, like anything over 3000mAh. So if the battery loses 10% of its capacity after 1 year then it will still have 2700mAh of capacity. That's still more capacity than what they have on their current iPhone 8 Plus out of the box. Just corporate excuses in my opinion.

If peple were not primitive, this kind of public outrage would have happened against phones with non-removable battery.

Apple still haven't addressed the root / core of the problem: the non-removable battery. They should use removable batteries. But of course, it would be against planned obsolescence, thus it would be against capitalism, greed, consumerism and hypocrisy (people who are obsessed with buying the latest status symbol, without caring about other aspects).
