Anonymous, 19 Jan 2018Not every Chinese phone like that, there is Huawei. Huawei is banned in many countries, and it's banned for a reason.

Why blame the phone? The attack is on oneplus.net site, not on the oneplus devices.

Anonymous, 19 Jan 2018Not every Chinese phone like that, there is Huawei. Do you mean Huawei, the company that sells you phones where you don't even know you get LPDDR4/LPDDR3 ram or UFS/emmc storage? The same cheater that gives you these lottery chances when you buy their phones?

Lesson 1: use PayPal when buying from China, those who used PayPal were not affected.
Lesson 2: don't put ads or dodgy third party scripts on the payment page of your website.

Interesting. Here they say "OnePlus admits SOME user credit cards were compromised"
PhoneArena says "OnePlus says that as many as 40,000 of its customers were affected by the breach. This number was characterized by OnePlus as a "small subset" of its total customer count."
FOURTEEN THOUSANDS. Some... Small subset... Some people cannot feel any shame.

Sympathies to those affected. Please don't save your card details in sites of companies like OnePlus. There's not much info in the article to conclude what actually happened but this is a serious issue of users credentials being compromised. Very unethical of OP. If unauthorized transactions are carried out through compromised user credentials then this incident should should be probed and the affected users be compensated. If I'm not mistaken OnePlus has been accused of stealing and spying on user data God knows how many times. Personally I wouldn't use or recommend OnePlus or BBK Electronics smartphones ever in my life, no matter what.

There is not enough information here to come to a conclusion. Of course I am concerned but I need to know what really happened and exactly how data got stolen. How many people lost how much money or none lost any moneyl. I am Reading this news first time so it's not like they were trying to cover some story gone viral. I am glad that they themselves issued a notice but still it's a serious security issue. In India almost none information is safe especially data which you share with government or banks. So it's not that much of a bigger deal for me.

Not the case with my Galaxy A5 2016. Its over a year & few months over it, havent seen any downgrade in performance & also getting regular monthly security updates. No issues from my side to complaint.
