iPhone 5 launching 5 September in the US, 5 October in Europe?

26 July, 2011
The iPhone 5 was a no-show at the WWDC in June, but a new report claims that it will launch on 5 September. Coming from a senior Swisscom executive, this is reportedly reliable info, but as you...

with a screen so close to the edge of the phone there will be plenty of accidental presses while holding it. It'll will no doubt be a case of a case or rubber surround to help ease the problem.

A person of logic at last!

Quality of iPhone is good to be fair, but yes, the future trend is for more openness. Proprietary restrictions are not something I respect.

Maybe I have higher demands than most, but my new device is so far, very powerful and versatile, I don't regret not waiting for the iPhone 5, as the same marketing principles will be carried forward.

I strive to find the sweet-spot between power, practicality, price and portability....(the 4 P's).....no device is perfect!

Apple sells overpriced products (i'm not criticizing the quality) and imposes their battery repair choices to the users.
As far i know they are the only manufacturer that don't allow the buyers to replace the battery by themselves, and having the choice to go whit official product or third parties and most important, quickly replace the battery by buying one and easily install it on the device.

No any good reason to chance for another brand, but many reasons to stick with iPhone, mostly because of appstore and all the good stuff there which is only for iOS users.

It's a deal breaker and it's not just on the clock as you want people to believe it's everywhere on the N8! Videos, greys, dark pictures and pretty much everything that should be dark appears purple. It's a hardware defect and Nokia is futile in fixing it.

Nokia is now synonymous to outdated and defective devices.

AnonD-1825, 26 Jul 2011"None removable batteries? Well I hardly need to expla... moreContrary to your experiences, there are iPhone users who have had battery problems and this means that they were without a phone until it was repaired or replaced. The replacement battery would have been a simple solution, as it is for heavy 3g/wifi business users like myself.

Yes, batteries have come a long way and are getting better by the year. But my point is manufacturers should offer choice and flexibility to the consumer.....not impose what they think is best for them. No secret of course that this reduces costs and enhances their profits.

As consumers we can decide if we want a function or fashion device. iPhone is leaning more to fashion and is priced excessively to increase desire to that types of consumer.

I'm out of that loop now.....I'm not a sheep.

The only way to check if you have it is to use the clock and look really hard. If it's that bad, then send for a replacement. Simples.

"The purple defect is still there even on the Anna update. Nokia just tweaked the clock's colors to hide the defect under the carpet. That's typical of Nokia. They tend to hide defects and use tricks instead of fixing them. People who flashed the leaked Anna update confirmed that the purple defect is still there."

Because it is hardware problem, not software.

Well, to those who say you don't need removable batteries. Remember, each time you plug your phone to a power source (be it via usb or the wall), you're using up your batteries charge cycle. If you are similar to me who can potentially plug it as often as 4 times a day (due to high usage), your device's battery life will be shorten real fast (within 1 year), and you'll need to constantly charge just to be able to use as long as when you first bought it (unless you're really rich and changes phone every year).
