Do a simple search for "battery issue shutdown" together with any phone model and you find tons of examples with people having issues were the phone is turning it self of because of unhealthy battery, like the example below:
"I had the same trouble with my S4. I did some tests and tried to figure out what was trigging this "sudden death", and it seamed to happen when the phone was working harder. I.e. with photos, games, performance tests etc. It always turned off. After reading forums and searching around for similar problems and solutions, I concluded that the problem had to be the battery. Offcourse the store where I purchased my S4, came with the standard solution of factory reset. That did not help. So I got a new battery, and now it works like a charm."

No, if I could not fix battery at an affordable cost, I will try sell off and move out to some other ecosystem like Android at far cheaper price range!
I would never invest on iOS which use one of the old and worst battery standards for their better profit margin!
I am seriously considering stepping out of trusted iOS

Lithi... moreit depends upon the actual technology companies used, all are lithium ion but it is not same for all. like he said i too have toshiba laptop from 2007 & lumia 925 from 2014 battery still performs the same! got a new laptop and battery dead in 2 years!

all used daily by people I know...Apple is using low quality batteries, telling lies or both (most certainly)

Yes is the only logical answer. Apple's excuse of "it's there to prevent unintended shut downs" only confirms that they knew and intentionally put dirt-cheap garbage components in their devices, yet they still place a premium price tag on them. To make matters worse, they intentionally block you from restoring to whatever iOS version worked well for your device. That's literally planned obsolescence in itself, and it's been going on way back to the time of the iPhone 3G (iOS 4 brought it to a crawl). I'm sure glad they're getting 30+ lawsuits filed against them.
My OnePlus One from 2014 still holds a charge well and has NEVER unintentionally shut down while the battery is at anything but 0%. Plus, with Lineage OS, still performs great today. Crapple's excuse is just indirectly confirming their devices were destined to separate fools from their cash...

I want full control i.e; to control the extent of throttling on my phone phone. So 3rd option.

It depends on situation. If your phone experiences unintended, abrupt shutdown frequently on cold weather, it would be much better to turn the throttling on. But if not, why use such throttling? Disable it until I actually encounter such shutdown.

No I won’t disable throttling, because my phone isn’t that important to me, I use it when I need to make a call , text or quick net.
You can’t judge the kind of people who will and who won’t keep throttling, and if you think about it most battery saving modes on a lot of phones reduce cpu and gpu performance.
My phone isn’t a fashion item, a toy or a games machine it’s a tool for text,calls,net and the battery lasts up to 7 hours 30 mins on screen time so again it covers my usage during a shift.
Want games ?get a pc or console , want real pro images ? Get a micro 4/3 camera or dslr

We all know that Lithium batteries lose the power to hold charge over a period of time say one and half to two years. After that If you still want to keep your phone performing as it was, u need to replace the battery.
I'd rather have a phone that is stable and performs well even with a little bit lower clock speed.
The fact is, even if at a little lower clock speed still iPhones perform way better than most (Obviously not all) of the Phones from other companies.

That's what the throttling is about. It prevents the phone from being driven so hard the degraded battery can't supply the needed power. Have you ever had a phone that suddenly turns off even though the phone claimed to have 30 % battery or more left? Well, there you go.
It's a wise engineering decision. Apple's only fault was to lack the transparency to not notify its users they were doing this. But for all users, having a phone they can rely on to work is likely far more important than having a phone that can do things a few milliseconds faster but might turn off randomly.
