2 options that are left for Xiaomi to save the Redmi Note 5-
1) Use SD 630/636 and start it a 999Y or 1099Y max for 3+32 storage. The base variant may not have dual cameras which may be provided in upper variant.
OR
2) Use SD 660 and start it at 1299Y or 1399Y max for 4+32 storage.
The camera and battery will almost be same for entire note series and not expecting much from that. So only SOC and price can save xiaomi despite a late launch.

Single core sco... moreToo many people relying on benchmark scores, it's not defining measurement of phone's real life performance.
People fail to understand the SoC is not just about CPU, and SD63x have new GPUs, new ISPs, DSPs, faster DDR4 ram, faster LTE, Wifi and Bluetooth standards. it's a definitely better option than SD625 and as you suggest SD652.

2 years passed and still my REDMI note 3 is better
than this shit called redmi note 5 with Snapdragon 630 processors and I will never consider Xiaomi ever again coz of poor software support only update no miui 9 no nougat thanx Xiaomi I will get a Samsung or Sony next
