LG claims the LG G7 development is on track

26 January 2018
However, the new flagship will launch when it's ready - the time frame is not subject to "tradition".

And hello...s4 active to start that off.

I'm already enjoying LG's business decisions for their latest low end phone with a high quality DAC. When I will afford a brand new LG smartphone I would buy one. I like LG's cut and dry approach to this smartphone. While on one hand it may unlikely never be released and become vaporware, on the other the market for smartphones could crash and LG releases the G7, the best selling smartphone of all time. I'd only want it before the smartphone becomes an antique and something more advanced is the successor.

With the utmost respect, do you really believe that the "average joe" (as opposed to us smartphone fanatics who follow all the news about the latest SD chipsets in develpment etc.) really considers whether to buy a new LG G device or almost any other Smartphone based solely on the specific Snapdragon processor it might possess? And do you also actually believe that there is palpably noticeable differences in performance between the SD821 and SD835 that would affect the normal enjoyment of their high-end devices? In my opinion, LG has continued to demonstrate that after you buy their Devices (I bought the V20 in November 2016) they will abandon you and not provide you with SPL (Security Patch Level) and other updates within 6-10 months. My V20 still has May 1, 2017 Android SPL whereas my Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge is up to November 1, 2016 and was upgraded to Android 7.0. I bet LG will never upgrade our V20 to Android 8 Oreo. That and their regional variations on their devices (where are all the lovely colours for the V30 in Canada and USA??) do the greatest harm to LG's Smartphone sales.

AnonD-733340, 26 Jan 2018Lg did do slimmer bezels, waterproofing ip68, micro SD card... moreS5 did it ip67 so LG can do it too or they can use a button mechanism like back is sealed tight and press of button releases back or something like that well ip67 is good enough for me (even no waterproofing is fine for me)

At least I hope they come up with a Q6 successor. That phone really is good but with some minor improvements it would be really a killer phone.

Errr, 26 Jan 2018The Galaxy S5 did IP68 waterproofing with a removable battery. IP67, not 68. Get your facts straight.

LG, Samsung and HTC are very lazy in this department.

I almost bought the G6, but the unavailable updates and the not so round corners of the display made me choose a different brand. Let's hope they'll pull it off with both.
