The focus is on the wrong things.
I don't know any people personally, who would NEED or even WANT something like an iris/face scanner. Since when was it a thing?

As wild as it sounds, I believe it has to have something to do with government agencies identifying people.
Otherwise it makes no sense. Fingerprint is quick and more than enough.

Focus on batteries, software, fixing issues, camera capabilities, design, durability.
Most of the phones nowadays lack the "personality" and the majority look bland alike, with mediocre batteries.
Software updates, depending on the companies, stop not too long after a new model is released.

But for someone who has neither the s7 edge or the s8, then clearly the latter is the much better choice. However, if it's second hand, then it would depend on the degree of wear and tear.

AnonD-680876, 29 Jan 2018It's always Chinese companies who copy apple and not tier 1... moreMy friend, it's not same face unlock than FaceID. Face unlock was a dumb feature to fools users that believe to have the face secured in the phone. Face unlock on ICS and other androids, only takes a photo of your "beauty" face, stores the "face photo" into android, and when user wake the phone, uses the selfie camera to compare the face in front, with the photo stored of the face, if is similar, ok, unlocked. Do the test, take a selfie of u with another phone, face unlock the android phone with ur face, with ur selfie photo u can unlock the phone. Apple FaceID, takes a real BIOMETRIC TOPOGRAPHY of your beauty face, for that apple never copied face unlock and never care it, because FaceID is not same than android face unlock. Peace :).

You can get same camera, good performance (not same as S8 but still beast), almost same display which is gorgeous, just different on the design. I have S7 edge and I don't think upgrade to S8 is worth it.

Iris scanner would be better if you didn't have to perfectly align your eyes to the scanner. Maybe this solves that by using the camera find your eyes and adjust the scanner for you? If so it'd be far superior to faceID.

S8 User, 29 Jan 2018Well, that will be an improvement for whoever is using thos... moreS8 fingerprint scanner + iris scanner = the cost you paid, but you use patterns unlock screen, it is waste and beyond of practical.

As a daily user of the iris scanner, have to say it works like a charm. It makes up for the uncomfortable fingerprint scanner placement on my note8 and it's convenient as hell. It's just as fast and it works excellently in the dark. My only gripe is that it isn't very good when sunlight is shining directly on the sensor. Any improvement on this area is highly welcome.

ICS face unlock was the first generation, while apple is the combination of tech sensor to detect the face, as tech matures and other sensor will become available, face unlocking will also be a little more accurate

My iPhone X last two days average, but i don't see reason why it should, i charge my battery at night, so if it can survive one day with having plenty battery left, i don't see reason why it should last much more.

"Facial recognition" or "iris scanning" are 'nice to have' features. Why everybody is racing for it, I just don't understand! I think, it is just to cover the innovation-less new phone. Instead of investing on these kind of 'nice to have' features, they should research more on phone batteries that lasts at-least two full days.

But my point is that this feature has been refined by apple and now being copied by all the rest.
I really dislike the apple ecosystem but with all other companies just copying apple I have no other option left.
Now according to rumors even Sony has decided to dump the 3.5mm Jack the situation has become hopeless.

Well, that will be an improvement for whoever is using those features.

I personally don't, I rarley even use fingerprint scanner. I go with pattern, the old style :P
