If someone values battery life and durability then yes, an old nokia is better than xz premium, note 8 and iphone 10 together. Not everyone cares about specs, especially your grandmother.

Specs are nothing if the software isn't optimised for the hardware.

And again you're over here trying to turn this info my Sony is better fanboy crap so ill take my one little mistake.

Samsung doesn't lag much and Sony is not perfect. And the touchwiz ui is far more advanced. I don't care about which features who prefers because every single feature out there is a gimmick to someone.

And they can also run well on 3gb. Obviously since the ui does more it benefits from more ram.
However defending low ram amounts weather its sony or anyone is just being naive like poor ios users.
Running well on low amounts regardless when you are paying top dollar on high end devices in these years and even mid rangers offer 6 to 8 for the past couple years is just plain foolish. Especially Sony and Samsung. They should have both had 4gb in 2015 and they should have at least 6gb this year.
If the standard s9 really only has 4gb again then that is a horrendous rip off.

Plus Z5 is a Sony so ram is not an issue here. When samsung lags with 4gb of ram with the lagwiz on s7, Sony doesn't with 3gb.

Denis Thomas, 01 Feb 2018Z5 is 2 years old. 3gb of ram was flagship grade then so th... more3gb of ram was barely acceptable for flagship then just like it was barely acceptable that most stuck to 4gb last year and might this year.
When 4gb was the standard in 2015.
They used to be a bit behind on soc. Like 2014 and back.
Z5 was a bit of exception with speakers.

Ossie., 01 Feb 2018Of course! and that's exactly right, if it works for you th... moreThat's great for you, exactly. for example im fine with 3gb ram, more than fine actually. I can do with 32gb of storage even though im near it's limit. ill get a micro sd i have options.

If you want more that's all right ill walk next to you, as long as you will. No need to fight over phones.. like god.. they are just phones.

Of course! and that's exactly right, if it works for you then that's all that matters, the point of my comments isn't to bash anyone for wanting less, just it seems stupid that they're complaining about something extreme being made saying they don't want it, the simple response to them I guess is who cares? if you don't want it then why let everyone know?, if any of the manufacturers read that everyone wants the bare minimum or average for the current year, they might at some point start doing what's already happened over the past year and charging more for less cause it's what people seem to want.

I do like that manufacturers are finally making roms much closer to stock android, that's one of the better parts of how devices have evolved over the past few years, but one of the up sides of having higher end devices or just android devices in general is how much you can modify them, all of my devices use custom roms to improve ram management and customizability.

Sure those specs are pretty excessive and just about every user wouldn't manage to utilize it all, but one of the nice things about that is you always know you have headroom, and for people like me who compile UE4 tests and other intensive projects that I can run on my phone, the more resources I have to my expense the better.

Before I got my current two phones which are already nearly 2 years old I had an HTC One M7 and a Galaxy S2, both of which are slow as hell and lag horribly with their limited memory and dated hardware, I've never encountered a slowdown on my phones with the S820s and as such have had no incentive this past year to upgrade, especially with manufacturers like One Plus following what Apple do with removing the headphone jack.. the extra memory is nice but I just couldn't see anything to gain from buying one of their devices purely for an extra 2 gigs of ram and a processor which one one hand is more powerful than the S820 while being more efficient, I get close to the stock S835 performance with my overclocked phones, sure the power usage is higher and the same goes for the heat output, but the difference wasn't to a point that it'd make any kind of major difference to my usage.. this phone though seems like a worthy upgrade since everything is almost doubled.

Over the top, sure. Futureproof, that goes without saying.. but with how well devices perform nowadays you could say the same about just about everything.. but it is something that varies from user to user and their needs.. I want something I can comfortably use for 2-3 years before needing to upgrade, that was why I made a machine for 3D art, simulations and modeling for game development years ago with a 5960X and other matching hardware which has saved me from upgrading for years, sure it's expensive but it saves me time and money in the future, only now I'm planning to upgrade since it's really worth it.

                        sorry for the long response.

Anonymous, 31 Jan 2018Specs are not everything. But they are important and half t... moreZ5 is 2 years old. 3gb of ram was flagship grade then so that it's not a good thing when it was the top is nonsense.
Hardware wise, Sony Z5's speakers are powerful and can get really loud. But software wise Sony is keeping them underpowered. I tested the speakers with android 6, they were very loud because poweramp (my offline music app) was bypassing Sony's speaker software and I was free to get them very loud. But Sony "fixed" it with a later update.
So it's about software, and Sony is stupid for not letting us have the full potential of the hardware.

Camera wise yes, again Sony is very good, but.. not great. They have again hardware that's ahead of others, but their software leaves a lot to be desired.

Sony are not lag free yes, they are lag less than other phones though. And Sony was always using the latest socs in their flagships. Especialy Z5 with snapdragon 810. Some others went safer with 805. But Sony kept the heated 810 under check with hardware around it.

Too bad Vivo never uses top of the line chipsets. Also, battery life will be poor.

Denis Thomas, 31 Jan 2018A lot of explanations from ya, im intriguied :) You see ... moreSpecs are not everything. But they are important and half the battle.
And no you dont need lots of ram, but its still beneficial.
And sony only offering 3gb on the z5 is not a good thing. It just means they were acting like apple and skimping.
Luckily sony is finally starting get a little better again. Improve speakers, use more current chip and ram, pushing display, finally put some effort into camera.

But i can also tell you s8 wont lag much. And sony is not lag free.

Ossie., 31 Jan 2018Hmm yeah why would you want to pay less for so much more.. ... moreA lot of explanations from ya, im intriguied :)

You see as much as specs wise it's a beast, specs alone aren't everything. Sony continues to prove that with my Z5. It has 3gb of ram which is considered midrange by todays standards ight? But remember that it's Sony. And Sony phones are almost stock android. Even though my Z5 is 2 years old and has only 3gb left from its storage, it runs really fast i have no complaints. I saw Samsung s8 lagging when it gets near its storage limits, but not Z5.
So obviously specs isn't everything. A 4k screen on a phone is unnecessary, 10gb of ram also. Can't speak for storage because more is always welcome, but the rest are unnecessary.

Can it run Crisis in 4K/UHD Ultra High Settings @ constant 120fps or even just 60fps?

Would be nice if they could give a seperate 2GB ram exclusively for gpu and 8GB ram to the rest of the system.
                                      Anyways....
AFAIK sd 845 can support upto 8GB of ram.
So 10GB is not possible as of now.
                                      I may be wrong though.
