It's not as simple as that, you can't just pull a good SOC out of your ass.. You might as well complain about GPU manufacturers using memory made by Samsung or Hynix or anything along those lines.. The reason is obvious, if you have multiple good sources for hardware, why would you try to reinvent the wheel for lack of a better way to put it.. For most companies it's a waste of money when the technology they need already exists and is constantly being improved upon.

It really depends on what you consider to be a better product, Why would you complain about paying $600-900 for phones with 8-10 gigs of memory and 128-256 gigs storage with flagship processors if you're not willing to complain about spending $1000 and upwards on a phone which offers so much less? the only way that I can see it is that you might already own a device you spent over a thousand on and you have some kind of buyers remorse or something along those lines when you see that you could have got so much more for so much less, along with something which is more futureproof for lack of a better word.. it seems like Samsung and Apple and the others have you in their clutches, just where they want you to be.

Ultimately competition is good, it means that the consumer wins, a year and a half ago when I got my phone it was an absolutely amazing price for what it was at the time.. One of them was $250 for 64 gigs storage, 4 gigs ram and an S 820, the other was the same but with 6 gigs memory and using UFS 2.1 storage except I paid $490 for that. Last year there wasn't any competition worth upgrading to in my opinion.. I was getting close to the performance of last years generation with the overclocks I have applied to my phones along with features being practically the same, in some cases crippled with the removal of the headphone jack.. This year on the other hand seems like upgrading is a decent option, the S820 still holds up perfectly and I never see it lag, but that's one of the good things about getting more than you need if you're just an average user, you don't see hitches or any performance drops since there's plenty of hardware to spare, as for the heavy users such as myself, it's just all the better when you want to run intensive tasks on your devices.

More ram than a computer.. A phone is a computer, not only that but unlike iPlebs, it's actually capable of running full Linux distros, hell Android pretty much is Linux which is one of the reasons it's so flexible to modifications and additional functionality.

    And lol optimize ram..

        Its actually already been tested and proven that ios only used something like afew mega bites or like 5% less ram....

Didn't you realize thats one of the reasons that even when they optimized better back then that's why apps still crashed so much more and one of the reasons slightly older sparsely still so advanced iphones with such an optimized os.... Hey so easily bogged down by getting updated????

        Only needs 1gb. Lol. Android can run well on 1gb too. But obviously benefits from having more.
        Ios would also benefit from all devices have at least 3 or should have 4gb. You're definitely paying the cost of it.
        But they tell you that ios is optimized so you don't need a more beneficial ram amount or battery capacity. But thou can still pay more for less anyway.
        Then the low ram slows down the phone and it crashes more.
        Then the low battery capacity has weaker run times than phones half the cost even though you are paying for the most expensive devices. .. And its not like they are short on space even it's all gone to bezel except one of them.
        And then the batteries that are already half the size of half priced phones start losing capacity. Don't know how many iphones run into terrible battery problems and only lasting like 40% of original capacity after it was already crippled to begin with.
        Then they send updates to slow it down.

        So you pay more for quality. And thats why you get less.
        But What you get is abuggy laggy crashy more crippled and less organized ui.
        A battery that only lasts longer in standby time and diminishes to nothing after a couple years.
        Barely enough ram to feed the system. Especially after one or two major os updates that a rushed buggy heavy betas.
        And low res tiny displays. Preference and colors do not negate that.
        Oh. Let's not forget the rip off and slow growth of base storage amount too.

            If I remember correctly, sd 845 doesn't support more than 8 gb of ram

                SD845 is too underpowered for a 10GB phone. Apple A11 or A12 might have enough power to utilize 10GB

                    One of the most stupid decisions. It's a trick to show development. But this is lie, is false. Companies (some) cant show anything else...its easy to put more and more RAM...but for WHAT ?! Try to beat Samsung, LG in camera, maybe own better SoC? No ?! :D Why only chinese companies (especially those that only work at China) put as much RAM ? Because they cant show better product then Apple, Samsung, Sony, HTC, LG.

                      10GB of RAM then combined with Snapdragon 450 for the price of the Oneplus 5T. Both Oppo and Vivo just used heavy marketing (With superstar) and big number to persuade their customer.

                        This is just proof of how bad Android is as an OS.
                        iOS/Windows need 1 GB minimum, and 2 GB for a smooth experience. Android needs 4-6-8-10 GB and will still not be as smooth as iOS/Windows.

                        Average OS for users with average needs and expectations.

                          Still rocking with my Sony Z3 which has only 3GB ram. Will buy new phone which has 16GB ram and 512GB storage.

                            yes, I agree about "marketing gimmick". my friends that dont know much about ram and cpu thing kept compete their phone that have more ram with my phone are better. Example, one of my friends tells that his phone has high-end flagship spec because he has 6gb of ram but he never think about his crappy processor and gpu.

                              Phone looks very opromising hope it will be much better than other so called flagships. Seeing Samsung or Apple win every year (because who have money can do anything and pay anywhere) makes me feel bored.

                                Apple with 1gb of ram in case of your 5s can barrely run card game not a reap FPS or MMORPG or anything else. And with that super small battery even a card game is good for maybe 30-60 mins and phone is dead. Had apple 6 for 3 months and came back to android.
                                It wost one of the worst phones i ever had in my life.

                                        They do exactly what people want - adding more of everything. I think there was an article posted several months ago in which it was claimed that OnePlus would offer less RAM (as having too much does very little help rather than just costing more) but they had to follow the trend of increasing everything.
